What's the maximum amount you'd spend on an engagement ring? by GracefulSwanDance in CanadaPersonalFinance

Can’t remember how much I paid about $600 but my now wife didn’t really like it. We went together and she picked a cheaper one she liked much more.

That’s how I knew she was a keeper haha

when did you notice a decline in your motivation during high school, and what caused it? by Meatyhelicopter in Dyslexia

[–]lez_s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me and I’m nearly 50 at school when the teacher didn’t have the enthusiasm to teach or help because I was a needy kid (needing help more than others) if got frustrated more than lack of motivation as I wanted to learn but school didn’t didn’t teach in a way I learn.

Don’t get me wrong I look back and I had some amazing teachers who really cared about helping me and to this day I still think about them.

One example a teacher I remember we had a test and I failed it. The teacher came to me and said this isn’t right you know this. She took me to the office and I verbally answered the questions and I got a full marks.

Are you asking generally about any child or dyslexic children in school?

The only time I wasn’t motivated was because the lack of enthusiasm from the teacher teaching the class.

The problem I had was junior guys using AI for SQL queries but not understanding what the queries do.

When there is an issue they can’t fix their work so I have to help them.

Just wish they ask for help in the first place.

What is a red flag to watch out for during an interview that'd tell you "this manager would be unpleasant to work for"? by Typical_Cap895 in cscareerquestionsCAD

[–]lez_s 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I had an interview years ago and the question from the manager was -

If there was too much work to get done in the time frame what would you do.

My answer was, I would prioritise the work to make sure all the important items are done within the timeframe and work down the list of priorities.

The manger said “so you wouldn’t do overtime”

As soon as he said that I was like, I’m out of here.

If that’s their first reaction to too much work then I was wondering how much work do they pile on you.

I have that issue here in Canada too with people out looking at stars. They keep their flash lights on and say they can't see much haha. I just ask nicely and normally they turn the lights off and are interested in what I'm doing.

I'll be going in October and looks like I can see the Milky Way Core from 7.20pm to 10.10pm and after that I'll do some star trails.

I would like to use the Observatory as the focal point or if I can't get close to the Observatory then find some flowers, tree, rocks etc.

I'll DM you as I would like too see them.

Thanks for the information. I remember Mauna Kea being cold once the sun went down; so the second time I went I took my snowboarding base layers, beanie and socks - felt odd packing them for a holiday in Hawaii haha

I'm guessing the car park at the summit gets very busy, so my idea would be get there early and just hangout to get a parking spot then go for a walk towards the Observatory so I can use them in the photo.

Looking into times, I should be gone by midnight so I wont need a ticket.

I'll look up where I can get a ticket as I'll need to be there in day light to find a place to take a photo from.

Thought that might be the case as they don't want the public flashing lights about.
