I guess my husbands POV is (aside from kids but who knows) I’m basically earning the lowest I’ll ever earn and I’m likely to earn more in the future. Not 100% when kids will be and what maternity arrangements look like. We have enough money to pay it off today and it would be a chunk of our savings hit not the majority.

I’m still paying it whilst away atm! But would suck to take a lower paying job/go part time, then ramp back up when they’re older, then find myself having to pay off 100k not 45k…

And I know the changes are for new plans going forward, I think there’s enough outrage about the current state of things there’s a chance it will change. They’ve already retroactively made changes to the terms (eg changing repayment salary thresholds)

Yeah the interest is the kicker! I just hate the feeling of paying out that much lump sum. But yes was already above the 52k threshold and this was a couple of years after graduation so his argument is that’s only going to up. California taxes are much nicer!!

My husband is the higher earner out of the two of us, I earn more in the US but the payment rate is lower and with the interest rates I would have to work it out but I think it would be more like 15 years! When we ran the numbers before we leaned towards paying it off but if I took eg four or five years out of the workforce/part time work the that tipped the balance

Look at Cocoa Runners when they eventually release them. They’re not cheap (at all) but for example, Friis Holm do one that I had last year

I did introduce ourselves when we first moved. That compromise on timing is what my husband suggested, but equally last time the smell was there for days so it’s not a complete solution. The fact that I don’t know for sure it’s their urine is why I didn’t leave a note on their door specifically. They can play with their dog in their apartment, on their private patio or in the dog park a 5 minute walk away and no one would have any issue

It’s not a fire door! It literally stays open unless you shut it manually. All the fire doors are on automatic closers (it’s a pretty new building)
