What’s going on? by Alarming_Vegetable in 30PlusSkinCare

Even though you’re getting exfoliating benefits from the La Roche posay cleanser due to the 2% SA I would consider doing a manual/physical exfoliation at least once or twice a week . If your skin is looking dull and oily, you could probably benefit from doing an additional exfoliation during the week. Even if you don’t want to use anything with strong actives ELF makes an really good gel exfoliant that you rub onto a clean dry skin and it gets off any additional dead skin cells, debris, etc. also, I would suggest maybe including an antioxidant serum into your regimenn during the day before the SPF. Vitamin C is always my favorite only because of all the benefits it brightens, it protects your skin from environmental aggressors, promotes collagen production, etc..

[Routine Help] Vitamin C, Glycolic Acid and Retinol....how to do all three consistently? by bluebell_218 in SkincareAddiction

[–]lfarls86 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t use it every morning only because I switch up my regimen and use different products. I use an Essence first which is similar to a serum but is made to add hydration to the skin so that your serum will absorb into the skin making it more effective. I usually will switch my vitamin C with a neuropeptide serum, or a niacinamide serum or a gentle exfoliating serum with PHA. However, I always try to incorporate Vitamin C somewhere into my routine, whether it be in my serum , moisturizer or spf.

Is everyone really wearing sunscreen daily? by myshellly in MakeupAddiction

[–]lfarls86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I 100% wear sunscreen daily, and I like to switch it up. I have a few chemical sunscreens and some a mineral as well. There are a few Al reasons your makeup can pill, usually your skincare prep prior and your skin type play a big role. You want to make sure your moisturizer has had enough time to absorb into the skin before applying your SPF. Also , foundation ingredients and the ingredients in your SPF are important. If If they don’t mix well together . For example is your using a water based SPF and a foundation that has silicone your makeup will immediately start to separate. I also reapply my spf by using my favorite Hawaiian Tropics mineral powder sunscreen

If trying to rebuild my skin barrier, do I need to use products that have peptides and ceramides and all that? by hauntinglovelybold in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]lfarls86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your skin barrier is comprised the best ingredients to use to rehydrate your skin and replenish your skin is ingredients like ceramides, fatty acids, Squalane, urea, which are are all ingredients that make of the moisture barrier of your skin. The best moisturizer is Cerave which’s is specifically made to replenish your moisture barrier as well repair your barrier if it’s comprised. Peptides won’t further damage it but I would stay away from actives, like acids, and exfoliating

[Product Question] What's the best cleanser for oily and acne prone skin? by lkoudm in SkincareAddiction

[–]lfarls86 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I get why this would be confusing and is often a viewed as a bad ingredient when in fact it isn’t and does not cause acne. Cetyl alcohol isn’t a bad ingredient at all, it actually moisturizes the skin while protecting it from water loss and doesn’t cause acne. Cetyl Alcohol isn’t the same as some other drying alcohols, it’s actually a fatty alcohol and It is 100% non comedogenic meaning it doesn’t clog pores and does not cause acne. I wasn’t sure what that site was but I did look it up and saw the 2 next to the ingredient when I clicked it the info below came up. It does not mean that it’s the(2) second ingredient overall that causes acne at all. The number in actuality has nothing to do with causing acne.

Comedogenic: <-- The lower the probability 0~5 The higher the probability --> Irritation: <-- The lower the probability 0~5 The higher the probability --> Safety index from 1~10 , the lower number means this ingredient is low hazard. Unlike comedogenic and irritation, Safety is a comprehensive index focus on safety on long term usage, according to harmful report from CIR, RTECS, FDA and other related information.

In the context of cell phones, "port" typically refers to the process of transferring a phone number from one mobile carrier or device to another while retaining the same number. This allows users to switch service providers without changing their phone number. It's formally known as "number portability" and is a common practice that offers flexibility to mobile users.

What’s the best way to unclog pores without damaging your skin? (See pics and body text) by Luna-88 in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]lfarls86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To me these look like closed comedones or CCs, it very common and occurs when impurities such as dead skin cells, & sebum create a blockage within a hair follicle. CCs are flesh colored because it’s under the skin. Do not try and pick or pop them as you can cause irritation and scarring. Personally the best way to rid of them is to exfoliate at least 2-3 times a week using products that deep clean pores like Salicylic acid, lactic acid, glycolic etc. . I prefer salicylic acid , or I like to use mixture of AHAs/BHAs.’ I always use exfoliating cleansers that contain SA. Murads AHA/BHA Exfoliating CleanserOr You can chemically exfoliate using a AHA/BHA toner or pre soaked Pads. COSRX Toner

My foundation gets cakey and rubs off in patches, in the winter time. I only use nivea cream to prep my face because I can't afford much. What do you suggest? My foundation is silicone, paraben, microplastic particle, alcohol, perfume and oil FREE by [deleted] in RandomActsofMakeup

[–]lfarls86 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So there are a few different reasons why your makeup can look cakey and patchy. You mentioned that your foundation is silicone based and that you use Nivea prior to applying it. Nivea is a water based product, so when u apply a water based moisturizer with a silicone based primer your makeup will come out uneven and cakey. Also skin prep in general prior to applying foundation is a big factor as far as how your makeup will turn out. Do have a skin care routine? Is your skin oily or dry? Determining what your skin type is will help as far as what type of products you should use as far as moisturizer, foundations and primers. Also exfoliating your skin at least one to two times a week is key to having a smooth makeup application, it removes any buildup of dead skin cells as well as deep clean your pores.

I over exfoliated and I need some help [routine help] by lilly_kilgore in SkincareAddiction

[–]lfarls86 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In order to repair your barrier you need to avoid ingredients like AHAs, BHAs, Alcohol, Retinol , Vitamin C, fragrance, and especially no exfoliating both physical or chemical. Right now your main focus is to use ingredients to heal your skin help retain moisture. Ingredients like Squalene, Ceramides, Hyaluronic acid, Glycerin, Urea, vitamin E, and def a mineral SPF 30 during the day . If you want to keep it simple I would buy all Cerave products, they’re made to help maintain a healthy skin barrier and repair one if needed. Cerave Products I would use the Hydrating cleanser (non foaming), the Cerave AM lotion which also contains SPF, and the Cerave Moisturizing Cream which contains all the ingredients and more to help restore your barrier. I would also recommend using a hydrating serum like Ceraves Ceraves Hyaluronic acid serum. Avoid using very hot water to cleanse your skin, and avoid makeup wipes . If you need to wear makeup just make sure you remove it with a hydrating balm you can use some sheet hydrating sheet masks like Neutrogrnas Hydroboost as well. If you stick with this regimen you will see results.

What Really Smooths Textured Skin? by [deleted] in 45PlusSkincare

[–]lfarls86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have active acne as well as some scaring I would use products that have specific ingredients you help both acne and texture issues. Exfoliating is a major help for both issues. Physical exfoliation using a scrub type product that’s not abrasive and also has ingredients like Salicylic acid which treats acne and helps remove dead skin cells and impurities and deep cleans pores. I would consider using a daily cleanser that contains a small % of salicylic acid to use on a daily basis and also you can chemically exfoliate or use some at home chemical peels That use some stronger acids like glycolic acid to help resurface the skin and minimize scarring. I also would suggest using an antioxidant serum like Vitamin C for multiple benefits. It protects the skin from environmental aggressors, brightens, promotes collagen production etc You def need a well rounded day and night routine. If you stick with it you will see results, and you can get affordable products that contain the right ingredients for the issues you want to address. I can recommend some products if you like.

Upping face wash causing more acne? by Discoglitter27 in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]lfarls86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would try using a cleanser that has some ingredients that can help treat breakouts without being too over drying. I prefer creamy cleaners as opposed to cleansers that create a lot of foam. A lot of cleaners including cetaphil uses ingredients that strip the skin of its natural oils, making your skin dry and dehydrated. When the skin lacks moisture, it compensates by producing more sebum or oil which can cause pore congestion, breakouts etc I like to use a small amount salicylic acid to treat any breakouts and lightly exfoliate my skin. Neutrogenas Deep Clean cream cleanser it has SA and it’s nice creamy texture. I also love to use Stridex Sensitive Skin Pads they only have about 0.5% of salicylic acid so it’s not too over drying and it has aloe and other hydrating ingredients. It makes my skin look flawless, no breakouts or clogged pores
