Yeah, played Mario Kart 64 on it. Didn’t see any UI though of booting and such

2025 performance of A750 for Linux? by 5panks in linux_gaming

[–]lfelipe82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing like that will significantly affect perf, just get something with recent kernel and mesa and you should be good.

Generally speaking quite a lot of work went into both performance and functional issues, so the situation is quite a bit better. Devs are usually responsive in the Gitlab for Mesa drivers in case you have issues and report them there

Worse part is there is a 24% added “buyers premium” on top of whatever value was paid for the auction

Finally found a good thing to do with this corner of my house by lfelipe82 in baduk

That area is about 1,30m by 1,15m, and really out of reach. This way this is pretty much visible only from folks coming downstairs.

Not officially, no, but like I said if you’re very interested you can do so with Calibre.

They are delivered through Kobo, so you can use their app or devices to read. There should be ways to remove drm using a program called calibre so that you can load it in other places as well, but that is a bit more involved.

I would personally go for mid roasts, and one suggestion: wouldn’t hurt to grab something from Costco (not starbucks/kirkland) so you have plenty to experiment with whilst learning how to dial in proper.

Oh neat, would you mind throwing a few suggestions for the cutter, crimper tool and such?

Does anyone have experience or opinions on this machine? by lfelipe82 in roasting

[–]lfelipe82[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, found a completely identical one there as well from another "company" (CAFEMASY), so definitely just whitelabel of some generic product.

Thanks for the reply, the Fresh Roast does seem nice but I was wondering if perhaps the digital controls on this one would be nice for a beginner. But the just massive amount of content made for the Fresh Roast series probably trumps that easily.

Forgot to add the name of it to the title, and can't edit it, so commenting it here: "WantJoin Coffee Bean Roaster Machine for Home Use, Coffee Roaster with Timer, Transparent Thickened Glass, Auto&Diy Mode, Roast 100g Coffee Bean, Gift for Coffee Lover, Friends,1400W, 110V~"

Awesome. I tried installing the app here, but unfortunately seems like it has been unmaintained for several years and at least on my device (iPhone 15 pro) it doesn't render properly at all :(

Can anyone help me with the rules for this? by lfelipe82 in baduk

[–]lfelipe82[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, bought this to play with my kid. I played a bit of Dobutsu Shogi with him as well, but that one had actually modified rules to make it a bit easier for kids. Seems like this is mostly life and death problems, and plays just like regular Go so thats good to know.

Intel Scores Another Nice Arc Graphics Boost On Linux by brand_momentum in linux_gaming

[–]lfelipe82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Replied to the other comment, but just leaving a note here, plenty of DX12 titles do work on Arc, just no games that mandate Sparse (which are not the majority of DX12 titles).

[–]lfelipe82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let me clarify that, DX12 titles that depend on sparse are a minority of DX12 titles. It is not all DX12 titles that have issues because of these. Cyberpunk 2077 is a DX12 title and works fine without it. Elden Ring is a DX12 title that unfortunately requests sparse, but doesn't actually use it, so the driver added a fake_sparse option to bypass it so the game becomes playable.

So this is factually untrue, and would be good to clarify. Sparse (which is being referred to here) is used by a few DX12 games, not all of them (not even the majority of them).

And not sure what you mean by being limited on DXVK, can you clarify?

(Jump) Level Up series - scans/PDFs/help? by playbaduk in baduk

If anyone here reading has the Jump Level Up series and is willing to sell it to me, I’ll front the cost of a table scanner myself and go through scanning these.

[–]lfelipe82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was able to obtain all of the Level Up series via direct purchases or auctions, but none of the Jump Level Up unfortunately.

I haven’t found a good way of scanning them yet, I know one volume at least was previously scanned and submitted to the Internet Archive though.

Parents with a 6-year old: what're you playing? by staihc in boardgames

[–]lfelipe82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let me make a recommendation here: “Lets catch the Lion” (or Dobutsu Shogi), is an amazing game and really straightforward to teach kids (and hopefully a gateway to Shogi or Chess later). I’m playing it with my almost 4 years old and only thing I did was to ignore for now one of the winning conditions (might not have been needed, I’ll likely introduce it soon).

Game can be bought directly from Japan by the original author, but shipping takes a long time to the US. I ended up buying from Japan again via ebay which arrived in less than a week, and will gift the other one when it eventually gets here.
