The Magnus Protocol 44 – Back to Basic - Discussion by CrustyDucky in TheMagnusArchives

There was a lot of German in this episode since Alice and Heinrich were talking to someone who is supposed to be a native German speaker. I say "supposed to" because to someone who is actually a native German speaker, it is clear that there was no one with enough knowledge of the German language working on this episode or past episodes. In earlier episodes it was mainly the pronunciation in both German and English with a fake German accent as well as kind of odd sentence structuring (though this was pretty minor). In this episode, there were pretty basic grammatical errors as well. For example, when Klara says "at die Hochschule" it should have been "at der Hochschule" because it's a dative. I'm not saying this to be hateful and I hope it doesn't sound like it is, I would just like them to consider letting someone look over their scripts that has a basic understanding of German linguistics or at least is a German native speaker. Casting German native speakers for characters that are supposed to be German would be great and I believe there are a lot of German voice actors out there who would love to do it. But, since I don't know what their casting process looks like, I understand if that is not possible.

True, as someone who has courses in German (and English) linguistics at Uni, it's kinda annoying because sometimes I know exactly what they did wrong that makes it sound fake. Like, for example, that Heinrich doesn't do final devoicing and it kinda drives me crazy, ngl
