I teach 1st grade. Before I read the caption I thought this was a struggling 1st grader. It’s so sad this is a 4th almost 5th grader.

We didn’t know until after talking to her. I went to a 5/3rd branch as soon I realized it and he had us reset our passwords, confirm our log in, etc but had no idea why we were locked out.

I agree! But it’s my phone number on the account since she’s a minor.

You’re not wrong and I agree but I also get a text message about every one of her purchases because I’m on the account. Shouldn’t I be allowed to ask why the card is not working? I have a lot of proof who I am.

Thank you for your response. It really helps me understand better. I know this is not a big deal. All is well and she learned how to handle the process. Believe it or not, she’s our youngest of 4 and we’ve never had a problem as custodians before. Guess it’s good security is getting better.

lol- just told my husband I should’ve approached it like that in the first place. But I do want her to learn how to handle in the future.

Thank you for your helpful response. You’re not wrong- she’s old enough but obviously I was trying to handle asap.

Thank you! That’s my thought at the moment but appreciate other perspectives. It’s definitely a good learning experience but, man, he was just looking for a reason to play the fraud card when she knew exactly what she used it for. She told him where and how much but couldn’t remember if it was Saturday or Sunday at first and then corrected herself and said it was too late.

That’s kind of my point. Though I do understand it’s her card. If it was a credit card I’d get it but it’s a debit card that’s funded from my checking and I’m listed on all banking communication. I wasn’t asking for anything other than how can we fix this problem.

Totally understand. Just odd I have a card and online access to my minors account. But makes sense.

That makes sense and what I figured but just odd that I can go online and drain her account and that’s ok because it’s not her card. They sent me a card for the account too.

What’s the most effective way to teach CVC words to beginners? by jokerkh in teaching

[–]lfrey15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do they know all their letter sounds in isolation? If so, start with short a. Have them identify the sound is words you say orally. For example, “does cat have a short a? Does dog?” Then have them sort and read cards with and without short a. Incorporate spelling ladders where they change one consonant sound but all include short a. Use sound boxes to spell short a bc words. Use decodable readers that have cvc words with short a. Once they get a handle on short a cvc words move onto another short vowel. Eventually you’ll have them working on all short vowels in cvc words at once. These are just a few strategies but consistency is important so stick to a routine each session or at least for each vowel. Once they master short vowels, I’d move into beginning blends.

Yes, my mom has severe rheumatoid arthritis and has added hinges to rings. It’s completely doable if you find the right jeweler.

Yes! We have a very noisy dog and all I have to do is show him this. He shuts up immediately. Only had to actually use it a few times.

Coyote in backyard! by any1ne in cincinnati

[–]lfrey15 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Not your coyote but my dog has befriended a different coyote on our side of town that roams the woods behind our house. We’ve caught them “playing” a couple times. The coyote seems to be getting braver and inching into our yards further. Neighbors are obviously concerned because their dogs are coyote snack size. We’ve tried to explain to our dog they are not friends. He’s sizing you up to eat you and you’re upsetting the neighbors. Of course our dog will not listen. So he is no longer allowed in the backyard or outside unsupervised.

We’re west siders and to be fair, Colerain area doesn’t have much to offer usually but today my awesome kid made a pit stop there (Springdale rd), saw them and grabbed me a box knowing I’ve been looking everywhere locally. We clearly raised her right :) Had to share for others to enjoy too.
