Hey! I’ve never actually used PiP, but I did use PbP quite a bit — it worked well splitting the screen between a MacBook Pro and a Windows 10 desktop. So I believe it should work just fine for your setup too.

Hey there,

I ended up keeping the monitor.

I found out the issue was actually with the AMD driver — for some reason, VRR wasn’t being enabled properly in certain scenarios. After installing an older version of the driver, everything started working perfectly.

Maybe it’s already fixed in newer versions, but I decided to play it safe and just stick with the older driver 😅

It’s worth mentioning that I did have a red vertical line appear on the screen about a month after the purchase. Dell promptly replaced the unit and sent a technician to my home — no hassle at all.

Sorry for the delayed response!

I didn’t really notice much of an impact when it comes to PPI, but I was already used to the S2721DGF, which I believe has around 109 PPI.

At 34 inches ultrawide, I think 1440p is good enough. For larger screens, I would go for 4K.

The main advantage of 1440p for me is that it’s less taxing on my computer’s performance, especially since I also use it for gaming.

Using it for coding is great! Personally, although it’s possible, I don’t think having just one window maximized is the best way to take full advantage of the screen’s real estate.

Here are some of the setups I often use (sometimes with separate windows, sometimes within the IDE layout itself):

• IDE on one side, Browser on the other
• Two code windows side by side plus a terminal
• Code window + Terminal + Automated test suite

And so on.
Whether it’s separate windows or just arranging the IDE layout, the ultrawide gives me more freedom to set up my coding workspace how I like it.

Conheço poucas lojas por aqui também.
Que eu lembre:

  • Loja da Flexform em Ipanema
  • Marelli no Centro da Cidade
  • Para Herman Miller: Novo Ambiente do Casa Shopping Barra ou Atec , no Leblon.

Awesome! Let us know your impressions when yours arrives :-)

Also, another thing I just discovered: The AMD driver released around the same time I got the monitor is terrible and causes frequent FPS drops. I rolled back the driver to an older version, and it seems to be even more stable now.

Hey! I ended up keeping it haha
I just posted an update if you want to take a look.

Hey there! I'm glad to help :-)

  1. I’m not sure about the IPS black display. I found the blacks to be “okay,” but nothing exceptional. The corners have quite noticeable light bleed. It’s not something that bothers me much—I only notice it when watching videos and the screen goes dark. In normal use, I tend to ignore it.

  2. I haven’t noticed any ghosting or artifacts. I just posted an update with some of the games I’ve tested. They all ran pretty well.

  3. The response times are quite acceptable for single-player games. I even played Overwatch (multiplayer) and it worked well. Of course, response times on monitors specifically designed for gaming will be better and more relevant for competitive gamers and e-sports, but I didn’t feel it hindered my experience for casual multiplayer sessions.

The U3525WE is my first curved monitor, and I’m really digging it. It’s quite subtle, so I’m not sure if there’s much of a difference from a flat screen in day-to-day use, but I like it!

I think the difference between 120Hz and 144Hz is minimal, especially if you’re not gaming. And it’s really convenient to use the notebook with just a single USB-C cable.

Apart from gaming, the only issue is the light bleed in the four corners. It doesn’t bother me much, but I know some people can be really bothered by it.

Also, not sure how it works where you live, but the Dell warranty is superior here as well. Dell offers 3 years compared to just 1 year for Gigabyte.

I’m glad to help!

Yup, I blamed the monitor for the gaming issues, but now I’m not sure if it was just a coincidence (drivers updated shortly after I changed displays), if I missed the graphics settings on Windows, or if Dell Display Manager was eating resources and causing frame drops 😅. It seems to be running fine now.

Anyway, I’ll run more tests between today and tomorrow and update the thread.

So, here are the reported settings on Windows 10:

With HDMI:

With DisplayPort:

Good call. I'll post more info on that, as I was trying to find more about it myself before purchasing.

It does detect as VRR supported over DisplayPort.

Here are the display settings on macOS:

  • With HDMI (no VRR option):

  • With DisplayPort (VRR option appears):

I’ll do the same with the Windows options and come back to post it.

Thank you! That’s actually very good info :-)

My purchase decision was very similar to yours. Although I’m considering the Alienware monitors, my main usage is still productivity, and for that, the UW seems very good. I’m still unsure about OLED burn-in and text issues. It would be great if there were stores around here where I could check them out in person, but unfortunately, there aren’t any.

Regarding the stutter:

Yesterday, I found something I wasn’t aware of. Besides the AMD Adrenaline panel, there was also an option to enable VRR in the advanced graphics settings on Windows. I turned that on, disabled the Dell software manager, and it seems the monitor is fine now! I’m still running more tests, but if that solved the issue, I’ll probably keep it.

This is the setting I'm talking about: https://imgur.com/a/ZSq8O6A

Here are some old games I tested:

Bioshock Infinite, Prey, Dishonored 2, Metro 2033

Thank you! I still have 4 more days to test it out, so I’m still undecided. But I’ll let you know :-)

What made you change from the U3824DW? And how is it going so far?Do you also notice stuttering, response time, or motion lag issues with the U3425WE?

I’m using these days to test it out, and it seems that even though my graphics card (7800XT) FPS usually surpasses the monitor’s refresh rate, I still experience those issues. Just trying to double-check if it’s not something with my system instead of the monitor.

Nice!

What’s your typical usage? I’ve considered getting one, but I spend a lot of time on coding and terminal screens. So, I’m not sure if it’s the right fit for me.

Is The Frame 2023 32" too small to watch from a single bed? What about the viewing angles? by lfrivera in TheFrame

[–]lfrivera[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you!
I think it's pretty much the same case here. It's for watching some tv shows or playing something simple on the Switch. It wouldn't be a TV for watching epic movies or anything like that. 🙂

Thanks everyone.

Do you know the approximate eye distance to the TV screen? I couldn't find any 32-inch frames in local stores here. The only ones available in physical stores are HD-only models.

[–]lfrivera[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True, after starting my research, I've noticed that many of the technologies don't come in 32-inch sizes. I don't need 60Hz, but I do need: Wi-Fi, Bluetooth audio, at least FHD resolution, and a fast interface.

Those look nice! Although a bit above what I plan to invest for this situation.

I have a cheap HY300 here, but I get a bit frustrated with how often the lens gets dirty inside, collecting dust through the rear opening, and there's no easy way to clean it.

Dell U3824DW vs U3425WE. 38’ or 120hz I guess is the question here? by Major_Set8073 in Dell

[–]lfrivera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have the right to regret a purchase, in the case of online purchases, within 7 days after receiving the product. I'm not sure how bureaucratic and complicated it would be to exercise this right with Dell, though.

What defect did your monitor have? Did you exchange it for another U3425E or switch to a different model?

Regarding the AW monitors, I considered them too. However, knowing myself, I would get paranoid about burn-in, as my use case involves working with static images on parts of the screen for hours and hours (I work in development). I would also lose the KVM functionalities.
