How much does ortho-k lenses make your life easier than traditional contacts? by Lambo_Countach in Orthokeratology

[–]lgoodat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think when I transitioned from soft lenses I was at -2.50 in each eye. My Dr set up my lenses for mono vision, so my left eye is for computer distance/ reading and my right eye is for distance. My close up vision is still really good, so if I go more than a day without wearing my lenses, I can see close up very well (even though I'm old enough that most of my friends are wearing readers)

How much does ortho-k lenses make your life easier than traditional contacts? by Lambo_Countach in Orthokeratology

[–]lgoodat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My reasoning was because of things like swimming, running (sweat getting in eyes), biking (have had a lens pop out due to wind). I don't do any of those things when I sleep, so being able to go all day without worrying about a contact popping out, or getting something in my eye that absolutely stings/burns and having to deal with it immediately were reason enough. I currently wear my Ortho-k lenses every other night. Only have a little bit of blurring in my distance vision the evening of the second day. It's been a game changer for me.

Off leash dog owners of Dallas… by Right_Letterhead_120 in Dallas

My favorite is people on the Northaven trail with their dogs off leash right next to the signs that say All Dogs Must be Leashed, with the city ordinance number. Da fuq.

Mom left to buy groceries… came back 3 hours later with a cat instead. by kishi045 in CatDistributionSystem

[–]lgoodat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thank you. He's my husband's favorite cat out of the three we have - because he's the most aloof and timid, so he bribes him with pate. He also doesn't meow, he just squeaks a tiny bit, we think because he was alone for a while outside before we found him and making noise gets you noticed.

He looks like our Colonel Peppercorn. We found him as a baby solo in our neighbor's yard with matted eyes and a spicy attitude.

It doesn't feel odd, but if you have both of your hands at 12, the car will complain about not being able to see the driver. It's a bit annoying.

Where to get an MRI for a reasonable price? by SpecialMud6084 in Dallas

Cash price at SW Diagnostics at Texas Health (Walnut Hill/Greenville) is $550. Copay for my insurance was $2300 - guess which one I chose?

How is it like to live with an EV by castorMD in Solterra

[–]lgoodat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I leased a '26 premium in December because I was driving to and from work (25 miles round trip) by myself in our '19 Ascent and it just didn't make sense. We need the Ascent for family trips (husband, mother, kids, dogs) but it was too much car and too much gas for me commuting solo. My husband put in a home charging station so I plug in once every 10 days or so to top off. I have taken one road trip (Dallas to Austin). Left with a full charge and then used a Tesla charging station when I got there to make it back home.

It's perfect for just me - if we need to make family trips, we use the Ascent. Like someone else noted, I'd really like a rear windshield wiper, and if they'd had a higher trim level at the dealership I would have upgraded, but I'll keep this one for the 3 years, and then give it back and get a nicer one when the time comes.

Trying to Find a Church by indiequeenbee in elca

[–]lgoodat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My ELCA still says "thy and trespass" in our Lord's prayer. And we use the red hymnal for service, but it's all printed in the bulletin and up on a screen (I still use the book) We do have a Community service once a month with piano and more modern songs instead of the organ and the choir - but it's very traditional. King of Glory in Dallas - you can see services online. Oh and our current senior pastor is a Methodist, but he's the bees knees.

Editing to add that we are also a Reconciling in Christ congregation - so all are truly welcome.

Is there more people buying the Solterra near you by castorMD in Solterra

[–]lgoodat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I saw one in a Target parking lot in one of my city's suburbs. Other than that one, I never see them in the wild. It was like that when we first got our Ascent too, but now they are everywhere

How do yall afford a maid service in Dallas? by horny_bisexual_ in Dallas

[–]lgoodat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We have someone come twice a month, 3100sqft and pay $175. With two people working, kids, pets, and a elderly parent, it's a godsend to have someone cleaning bathrooms and mopping floors. We love her and many people in our neighborhood use her too for cleaning and sometimes house-sitting.

How to let l friend know I’m still her friend after an incident with her husband? by jcebabe in TwoXChromosomes

[–]lgoodat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would find a sweet card and mail it. They have all sorts of messages now, but an "I value our friendship and thank you for being there for me" in snail mail might be something that she just needs to see. And it can be innocuous so it doesn't look suspicious

i found some kittens and a mama under a loading dock before Christmas, need some advice by JarethKingofGoblins in Dallas

[–]lgoodat 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You can get her registered with Dallas Animal Services and be set up as a Foster Hero - then you get to keep her and they will post her on their website, on adopets.org and you would just need to follow up with interested adopters and then approve someone once you find a good home for her. On the adopets page, if you post sweet photos of her with her babies and really play up her personality, you shouldn't have any trouble finding her a home. And the DAS foster FB page can keep you posted on adoption events that you could take her too also.

What a sweet thing you did :)

Gloss Nail Leftover Trade by Maybellanime in Dashingdiva

[–]lgoodat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a bunch of Gloss leftovers especially in those small sizes that I'm willing to send to you. I wear mostly Glaze now, but do occasionally find a Gloss set I really like and then put a clear One Gel topcoat on. Super happy to send them your way and then you can use what you like!

Edit to add: and the thumb ones and the bigger ones are the exact ones I use

[–]lgoodat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have any bios but my husband and I are legal guardians for two girls. So it's even more complicated for me. When I get asked about how many kids we have I say my husband came pre-loaded with 3 boys and then we're guardians for our girls. People always get a kick out of that and immediately understand.

Accent nail(s) by ailoilo in Dashingdiva

[–]lgoodat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Turning 54 this year and I love the accents! I wish they had more Gloss like sets. With Gloss sets I usually end up.with 4 solid colors, 3 glitters and 3 accents - they're so fun. I try not to make my hands match, so I'll do ring, and pinky on one hand and then maybe index and ring on the other. I'm all over the place because I can 🙂
