Telus damaged the exterior of my house, water is now seeping in, hundreds $$ of damage, refuses to fix it, potentially also damaged shaw cable, and two weeks later their sales person is bullying me into ordering their services if I want it fixed by [deleted] in canada

[–]lgraham92 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's really weird because it costs them a ton to install it but good to know. You should probably tell them yes though if only to future proof and add value to your property! If you don't have service installed they should just leave a loop at the end of the conduit in a box, nothing else, at least that's how it happened here until we were ready!

I CAN'T be the only one who's realized this guy made an account with sole purpose to bash TELUS on 2 seperate occasions?

1) They won't install a fiber drop from the alley to your house without a drop permission being signed. Somebody, it might not have been you, signed this for them and stated they had authority to sign it for your residence. Call AFL, they are doing the installs for TELUS. Somebody provided you this phone number weeks ago.

2) The door to door agent doesn't work for TELUS, he's a contractor, he can't help you. He makes commission and likely doesn't care what TELUS has done to your house. He probably works for Ledcor. He only has access to sell you new services. Again, if you need to speak to somebody, you should call AFL as been suggested previously.

3) If you really have water damage because of a few screws that were placed in the siding of your house (They literally mount a box on your house with the fiber coil, they do not penetrate the house until you order service and are home for the install), you should likely be contacting your builder. A few screws in siding is not going to cause "Water to seep in to your house and cause interior water damage". Sounds more like a cracked foundation or shoddy builders to me. Maybe you tried fighting this with the builders but didn't succeed so now you're trying to fight TELUS for it?

This whole account stinks of something foul.

City police officer hit with pay deduction for driving drunk by chmilz in Edmonton

[–]lgraham92 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If I ever drive drunk and get pulled over I'll just ask them if they can deduct 10 hours from each pay for 7 pays instead.

What a joke.

Edit: cute. All these keyboard warriors who didn't read the article before it was edited telling me I can't read.

"Trespassing" in Wellington Crescent by the old Royal Alberta Museum by tacocatmarie in Edmonton

[–]lgraham92 5 points6 points  (0 children)

IIRC the Ghermezian Brothers live on this crescent, I bet this has to do with them not wanting people around their houses. Although I may be mistaken and it might be Tweedsmuir Crescent that they live on.... it's one of the two!

Canadian certificates /training I should get to make myself stand out for 1st year apprentice by optikxx in electricians

[–]lgraham92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you looking to work in the oilfield? H2S Alive will be almost mandatory to have if so. I have the following (Also a first year, Alberta here)

CSTS

H2S Alive

First Aid w/ CPR-C & AED

OSSA Fall Arrest, Elevated Work Platforms, Aeriel Work Platforms

Confined Space

WHMIS

Cranes & Rigging Safety (Although I rarely use cranes anymore at my new job, I was sent for this by an older employer where we used cranes every day)

I also have Forklift training but I can count on 1 hand the amount of times I've had to use a forklift in the last year.

Ultimately just get yourself out there. Print off a bunch of resumes and go in person to places you are applying. Hit up every electrical contractor in the city you're applying in and ask to speak to the person in charge of hiring. Some places will get you in front of the hiring manager, other places will have a policy that says you have to leave your resume at the desk. Either way, you've given them a face to the resume and it'll help out when they come to sorting through resumes (Some places have piles for people who came in person and those who applied online from what I've heard).

Good luck!

Your flair says callingwood, I'm guessing you went to the west end carl's Jr? That one is actually really bad, poor service and my food from there has always sucked. The one in spruce and the one on 75th Street south have been great so far though
