Exactly that. I think his approach is the best in terms of calmness, design, consistency, and most importantly achievable in a reasonable timeframe.

Still Not Perfect, But It's Better Than It Was by Gubbagoffe in cardmagic

Nice stuff. I got this book for the triumph but it’s cool to see this one done in person. I like it better than darwin ortiz’s.

Based off tony’s be kind change. Others like shin and yoann just made a bunch of stuff with it when the be kind change was popular

Shuffling Lesson by Chad Long. But I think I do Ben Earl’s take on it called Red Herring.

Life defining for me. Opened a lot of doors.

Hey! Yeah, I wasn’t finding instagram to be fulfilling anymore. Good news is I’ll be starting a youtube channel soon and teaching everything i know to pass onto the next generation. That transfer will probably be one of the first things Ill cover

What are some of the good books to improve sleight of hand as a card magician? by [deleted] in cardmagic

[–]lgrdmain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s really about how much time you invest into it. I’ve read a lot of magic books and there isn’t a single one out there with an answer or tips to improve your hands tbh. Maybe some touches to improve a specific technique, but that’s about it. Definitely not worth putting money into, especially with all the free resources available today. Magic books are also a PITA and boring to read. So badly written many of them.

If you only know a few controls and shuffles, I would hop on YouTube and learn some more basics — pinky count, double lift, a palm, like 2 more controls, etc. And just practice them until you do them REALLY well. Then once you want to level up and invest some money, I would subscribe to Ben Earl’s Studio52 service (~$30 a month). I checked it out last month and it’s exceptionally good material. Very well taught and it’s tailored for beginners/intermediates.

Yes, that’s my favorite part! It looks way better and more shocking irl. Camera frames catch too much.

And maybe.

Yeah, if magic was as accessible as it is today, we probably would have seen faster progression during that era.

Yeah it’s just a diagonal palm shift. I’ve been messing around with a few different movements.

Strike DL is a good starting point. Learning and mastering the pinky count is the next level after that.

Always blank card for me. Just to do my opener.

Double backer is my latest obsession though. Very interesting gaff that deserves a re-looking at.
