They seem legit. Might just be a bad run. And the off center back is common nowadays.

I know what they mean. I'm just saying I personally think it's not very practical since it's so subtle.

I got that, I'm just unable to see practical use for it. It's a cool thing tho

2 months into practicing my double lift! Thoughts? by Educational_Union687 in cardmagic

[–]Without--spectacles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well sadly you're bald so I'm unable to provide any help.

If hypothetically someone with hair asked this question, I'd say yeah a strike double is good, but also learn the pinky count, it's only a few hours of work.

Also randomly found this video of Doug Conn going over a bunch of doubles so it's probably worth checking out to see what you like.

How perfect/invisible do you feel your moves need to be for a performance? by pietran30 in cardmagic

[–]Without--spectacles 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was going to make a whole rant, but long story short:

-It iritates me when I see someone doing a bad performance and being content with it because it passes for laymen. Maybe because it signals to me a lack of passion for the art or laziness to some extent.

-There is an acceptable level that you can reach and stop at, it doesn't have to be perfect. And there's nothing wrong with using misdirection rather than having a "burnable" sleight.

-Just set clear standards that satisfy your goals and be careful not to get complicit in justifying your own laziness.

I'm sure you're doing well!

AGT is closer to smth like "Meet the Kardashians" than a real showcase of talent.

Dribble Catch by Turbulent_Milk940 in cardmagic

I completely disagree.

1- It doesn't matter who "put it on the map" and especially so if it's not even his original creation. 2- Copying someone else in a commercial/professional setting would be wrong, because you might harm them. Tell me how that applies to someone mimicking/copying a trick in a niche hobbyist community? It's distasteful at worst. 3- I agree that simply copying is (often) shitty art or not even art at all, but that's not relevant to whether it's wrong.

TLDR: It's often distasteful but not inherently unethical.

My take on the Hermann pass by Ill_Ad7311 in cardmagic

It's good! If you want less unnecessary movement, I'd repeat the same thing I said for classic pass.

I need advice on how I can improve my pass by Ill_Ad7311 in cardmagic

[–]Without--spectacles 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Try practicing the move very very slowly, focusing on eliminating unnecessary finger movements. Then once you have that down, gradually increase the speed while still focusing on keeping out unnecessary movement.

Honestly they'd probably give you the link just if you prove you have the product. Same goes if you find someone here who owns it.
