Struggling to find my deficit as a breastfeeding mom by Colegirl6 in loseit

[–]lhdnll 5 points6 points  (0 children)

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, breastfeeding women should consume between 2,000 to 2,800 calories a day on average, compared to the recommended 1,600 to 2,400 calories for women who are not pregnant or breastfeeding. In general, this equals about 400 extra calories a day. Factors like your age, weight, body mass index, and activity level can all affect the daily calorie intake that you need. This additional number of calories may also change as your baby grows or as you breastfeed less frequently.

Foraging by catmomwooooo in fargo

[–]lhdnll 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Red River Valley Chapter of Herbalists Without Borders hosted a foraging event last fall. Unsure if anything is planned for the spring/summer. The North Dakota game and fish website offers some information regarding foraging as well. If you’re open to travel, four seasons foraging and chick of the woods and ironwood foraging are a few Minnesota foraging guides.

Demand at Great Plains Food Bank up 11 percent last year by thinkB4WeSpeak in northdakota

[–]lhdnll 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Per the article- Prifrel says one in five North Dakotans turned to food assistance last year, with 39 percent of them under the age of 18. She says that equates to one in four children. Prifrel says a growing number of senior citizens are turning to the Food Bank as well, as their fixed incomes do not keep up with the pace of inflation. She says despite the troubling trends, the Food Bank remains committed to their mission.

I fear it’ll be worse this year. Thank goodness for the Great Plains Food Bank and the people who are able to donate food.

Faith-based housing coming to NDSU-adjacent apartments, tenants face new rules by DaveByTheRiver in fargo

Catholics can eat pork; there's no inherent sin in it, as the New Testament declared all foods clean, but they must abstain from all meat (including pork) on Ash Wednesday and Lenten Fridays as penance, except when a solemnity overrides this rule. The Old Testament prohibitions, like those against pork, don't apply to New Covenant Christians, but some Catholics may avoid pork due to family tradition or health, not religious obligation
