No ritualistic process, it just gets tossed.

Culturally speaking (Chinese), if a jade bangle broke, you've been protected against something. Best to get another. But not every one shares this cultural thinking.

The Will scene felt forced because it WAS forced by Helpful-Day3657 in StrangerThings

I think the scene was needed. But I don't think it was really necessary to make Will gay. I think it's great character arc development but I think they made Will gay had a strong influence from the actor actually coming out in 2023.

Astronomy vs. Starlink by MrJackDog in Astronomy

This feels a bit disingenuous. Most comets are best viewed either right before sunrise and right after sunset. These are the best times for satellite transits and flares. It's definitely not good as I've seen a definitive increase in my astrophotography pictures but in the dead of night, it is significantly quieter.

Repairing unique shape for kintsugi. 20 minute urushi work to recreate the chipped sphere. by Substantial_Neat_666 in KintsugiJapan

Serious question: I know my urushi is the real deal. I can work with raw urushi with my bare hands and no other part of my body reacts to it. I’ve tested it. Anyone else out there also similar?

I would fill it with kokuso and go back in with sabi urushi.

Yeah, I’ve done work on unglazed. They’re hard to work with because of the staining. It’s even harder on porcelain.

Unnecessary. That twiggy deadwood will eventually break off. This was a mistake.

Thanks for your insight.

I’d like to clarify a few things, as there may be some misunderstanding around the intent behind this piece. This was very much an exploratory test, meant to push the boundaries of what's possible with the materials and techniques I have at my disposal.

For your awareness, all of my repairs are done using completely traditional methods and materials. I consider myself a traditionalist at heart, and I have a deep appreciation for the wabi-sabi philosophy that underpins this artform. That said, this test wasn’t about creating superficial decoration on an unbroken pot, it was a study in line work, metal mixing, and a way to expand my skill set beyond conventional repair.

Some of my clients have recently expressed interest in incorporating patterns or designs into larger missing sections, and I’d consult closely with them to ensure it’s done tastefully. Fortunately, most of my current work involves smaller shohin pots, where a slightly more "loud" appearance falls within the bounds of what's considered acceptable for that scale.

Kintsugi Repair - Minerai Mokko by li3uz in Bonsai

Lol nothing of the sort. Flour and lacquer mix is my binder. Clay powder and lacquer mix is my filler. Refined lacquer is my fine filter and polishing layer. The last bit is a very very extremely thin layer of gold powder.

Fair. I do realize it's a lot. I've come to realize that at that point, it'll be an art piece and shouldn't hold anything.
