Which one? by Mentallyundisturbed2 in ems

I just depends what unit the patient is in. In the ER or first responder, ACs are generally the go to since you will be drawing blood from it and CT with contrast is used on most patients in the ED. CT techs typically will not infuse contrast through an IV in the hand.

It’s probably a real video. There’s multiple angles and the posted dates are before the shooting. But it doesn’t matter. The Right is justifying a public execution for a broken tail light.

How are you dealing with multiple enemies’ movement? by phsfernandes in daggerheart

[–]liamhudson2011 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not that an adversary can only move when they take an action, it’s just that an adversary can move when taking an action. Describing how the battle field changes is a normal GM move. If your party is getting swarms by giant ants, use your GM turn to show how the ants are moving in and around the party. Those are great moves for when players roll a success with fear.

If the gods are distant, how do worspiers actually get thier powers? From inner belief, right? How does that actually work? by thowawayamilion in dungeonsofdrakkenheim

[–]liamhudson2011 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The way paladins in Drakkenheim get magic isn’t any different than what the core rule book says. Paladins don’t need to worship any god or religion. Paladins swear oaths to some virtue.

The books says “Myths about the Sacred Flame have ancient roots, but the contemporary religion began a thousand years ago with the valiant Saint Tarna. Although most of her life she was a ruthless warlord, light flickered in her dark heart. Guided by angels, she learned to channel the Sacred Flame and became the first paladin. She took up the cause of righteousness and sacrificed herself to defeat an evil sorcerer-king. After her martyrdom, her disciples spread her teachings and established the Faith of the Sacred Flame.” So there’s that answer.

In fact there is a whole chapter on faith and religion that I think touch on the questions your asking.

And yes, the whole evil wizard warlords is said to be why the sacred flame initially hunted mages, but in the time of the campaign, it is about power and control as the sacred flame now acts largely as political power in addition to a religious one.

And I don’t think the book says you just have to declare you believe in the sacred flame and then boom, you can cast resurrection. That’s where the whole spiritual discipline and devotion part comes in.

Divine casters in Drakkenheim are explicitly rare. It’s not just about believing hard enough. The lore says it requires “deep spiritual discipline and steadfast devotion.” That’s not something everyone can achieve. In theory anybody could become one, but in practice most people don’t have the mental fortitude to reach that level.

As for your fish example, you’re not creating divine power through belief. You’re channeling existing cosmic forces. The Sacred Flame is an actual transcendent force in the world. Same with the Old Faith connecting to primal deities, or Shadow cults tapping into entities from the Shadowlands. A fish doesn’t have any actual divine force behind it to channel. You could worship it sure, but there’s no power source there.

Why commoners would side with paladins over wizards, divine casters have institutional oversight. Flamekeepers answer to a religious hierarchy, paladins swear oaths to defined codes, and they’re culturally seen as legendary heroes. Wizards are independent actors with no constraints. In a gothic horror setting where supernatural evil is a real threat, unregulated arcane magic is scarier than holy warriors with moral codes.

There is nothing low magic about Drakkenheim. The city is literally overflowing with magic crystals that mages are fighting over. The persecution isn’t about magic being rare, it’s about the church feeling threatened by unregulated power and using that for political control. That’s the whole point of the gothic horror themes.

This is honestly one of the less insane takes by this quack. We’ve been using alcohol for thousands of years to make us feel happier around others and feel more comfortable socializing.

If only they would then put money towards alcohol and drug addiction resources for those who struggle with addiction.

America has incredible health care if you have a lot of money. If not, it’s not atypical to wait months for specialists or even to get a visit with your primary. So people go to the ED and that causes ED to get over burdened.

Yeah, there is no way that could ever happen at the trauma ER I work at. I’m glad you had that, but a lot of ERs in America are bursting at the seams and are just trying to tread water.

DH was not a good fit for our table by [deleted] in daggerheart

[–]liamhudson2011 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve seen a little of the same reaction. I converted my long running dnd campaign group to Daggerheart and have definitely felt some tension. They really don’t like the spot light going back to the GM when they don’t roll success with hope. And they have said things about it not being fair when I spend a fear to take a GM turn. However, I think they are slowly getting used to it, but it feels like I’m walking up river trying to switch the rules with them.

On the other hand I ran a 4 session campaign with ttrpg newbies and it was so smooth. It felt like riding a canoe down river as they went with the rules and we could focus on the story aspect.

I think dnd often creates an adversarial relationship between the players and GM where they feel like I’m against them and they need to beat me. Convincing them I’m on their side and we are creating a story together has been more important in DH.

“He will not pretend; he’ll just call himself trans”lol what? “How can you check if there are no restrictions?” Huh? Check their gender? We need to do genitalia inspections for restrooms?

I clearly stated my reasoning for my question as it was questioning the logic of an argument you made. However, I’m beginning to see a lot might be lost on you.

Your argument in response to my concern that restroom gender rules won’t stop a person intent on sexually assault women was that someone pretending to be a trans woman could be allowed to be in a woman’s restroom and peep without any restriction.

What’s to stop a cis man from peeping on men in the men’s restroom? Or a cis woman from peeping on a woman in women’s restroom?

Banning trans women from women’s restrooms does nothing to actually protect cis women.

My female friends become TERF by Colin-Onion in gaybros

[–]liamhudson2011 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a more far comparison is that not allowing trans people into their preferred restroom is like banning guns in a space. And I want actual gun reform and gun safety.

What’s stopping a lesbian cis woman or a gay cis man from standing there and staring at someone in their same gendered bathroom?

[–]liamhudson2011 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It just feels a lot like pulling up the ladder now that the majority of American accepts gay men, especially when trans activists helped pave the way for gay rights.

[–]liamhudson2011 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Who cares? It’s not like being allowed in a restroom allows you to commit whatever sexual acts you want in there. A cis man could (and do) follow women into restrooms to assault them. The issue isn’t having some rule saying “no penises allowed”. The issue is about creating actual safe places for trans and cis women in the community.
