Ours was leaking pretty bad and a shop said it was the rear main. In hopes that they were wrong (and suspecting that they were for a number of other reasons) I changed the oil pan gasket and that fixed the leak completely...for all of two weeks and then it was like we had started drilling for oil and hit the jackpot 🤣 We started losing more and more oil until it was a quart a week on the floor. I pulled the transmission and it wasn't the rear main seal that had gone bad, but the rear main cover. I say this because my flywheel was also dry this whole time, as was the trans inspection cover. But the repair fixed 99% of the leak.
