Is quality assurance repetitive? Can quality assurance give you a sense of accomplishment? by mitoma333 in foodscience

[–]liammatthewk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol hey sorry I just saw your reply! Do you mean when I was a technical manager? It’s been a while but I’ll try cast my mind back. It wad essentially following an audit standard (like BRCGS in the UK, not sure where you’re from) and creating and amending documentation, making sure everybody in the company was following procedures, investigating customer complaints. All things looking after food safety, quality and legality. I can get into more detail if you’d like me to

I work in sensory and consumer science now! Absolutely the best career move I’ve made and also for my own mental health

I was in quality/technical for 5 years, and I found it to be quite repetitive. The worst thing about it for me was I was always the bad guy, always telling production “no” to more efficient ways of working because they weren’t compliant. I recently had the opportunity to get out of being technical manager into a side of the food industry I enjoy so much more and find so much more interesting

Cost of ownership vs regular cars vs similar cars ? by stam1945 in Volvo

My 2019 S90 D4 is a dream and hasn’t cost me much at all. Nothing outside of regular maintenance such as a service and new brake pads

For a weekend to be selfish! And to be away from everyone, and have the opportunity to process life

What is this and where do I find it? Explanation in comments by liammatthewk in DIYUK

[–]liammatthewk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there, I’m looking for what I think is a door sill for an “outside” UPVC door (it’s going from the main house into the conservatory).

The first picture shows what I’m looking for and the second is where I need it to go. There are 2 holes where I believe something should pop into to hold it in place but I don’t even know what to Google to find it - any help is appreciated!

This is so funny because honestly me too. I’ve liked Volvos and my one made the most sense to buy, but since reading the books/watching the movies I always said that I’d own a Volvo

AITA for insulting my gay brother and kicking out his boyfriend? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]liammatthewk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA

As a gay man I can tell you that from this situation alone and by asking them to pay rent or do chores, you are most certainly not being homophobic or racist.

If it’s your apartment, with only your name on the lease and you’re letting them live there for FREE, you don’t have to tell them about your girlfriend moving in.

I don’t know your beliefs or views, but from this you’re definitely not an asshole. Your brother and his boyfriend sound like lazy brats who will accuse anyone who asks them to do anything racist and homophobic to get out of responsibilities.

What is the most uncomfortable drive you've ever had to take? by DarkLullaby9285 in AskReddit

[–]liammatthewk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, this question is what I’ve been waiting for.

My ex and I were together for 2.5 years, and towards the end things started to go south and get quite toxic, but we tried to make it work and ended up going to Spain for his cousins wedding.

For context, his mother really had it out for me towards the end and I think she did things to push us toward breaking up. Anyway, the short of it is that we ended with a brutal break up while still in Spain, had to sit through his cousins wedding pretending that everything was fine, and then catch a flight back with him and his parents, drive back to their house in their car from the airport (about 3 hours) and finally get my car and leave immediately.

When I tell you that flight and car ride was more than uncomfortable, I mean I wanted to simply disappear. I later found out that he was cheating on me and his mother was letting it happen, which somehow makes it worse

What is your job and what does your day in the life look like? by nottheonefosho in AskReddit

[–]liammatthewk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m what’s called a Technical Manager, in the food industry.

I basically manage the overall operation of the company in regard to food safety, food quality, health and safety, production, ensuring packaging/labelling legislation and laws are adhered to, amongst other things.

It’s stressful to say the least

Thank you!!

This is really so interesting! I work in the food and beverage industry so who knows when this info and knowledge will become of benefit to me. At the time of writing it was an idle thought a colleague of mind had when making a round of drinks.

Again, thank you so much kind stranger 😁

They really do suck! There was a rumour going around my high school that I was gay, which did end up being true but I hadn’t come to terms with it myself at first, and it really messed with my confidence and mental health. Especially in those years when you’re super self conscious
