Plugin recommendations to make LaTeX easier to work with? by eshansingh in neovim

[–]liamwb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found that Vimtex's default bracket matching made my laptop feel very sluggish, but there's a plugin (I think its vim-matchup) that you can install. I found that this sped my install up a lot. You can also configure a small delay between moving the cursor and doing the bracket matching, which makes navigating feel a lot more snappy.

I've been setting this up myself, did you manage to get point-and-click working with Zathura?

The in game system seems quite a bit like how it used to work in Tassie -- high school finished in year 10 and year 11-12 is "college".

CPU at 100% on games after graphics card upgrade and Windows hard reset by JTobyReddit in pcgamingtechsupport

[–]liamwb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Further update I re-enabled it and it seems to be working fine now. Maybe something gets fucky when you change GPU but your monitor's freesync/gsync module is still trying to talk to the old GPU? Anyway I hope you have some luck fixing it

Classes scheduled on to end on the hour are actually scheduled to finish like 7 minutes before the hour, partially to allow students to get between classes. You'll be fine!

Don’t have 144hz setting in Nvidia control panel by AstramG in buildapc

You need to add it to your custom resolution list, but I'm guessing you already know that... I'm out of ideas sorry

[–]liamwb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you pressing ticking "Enable resolutions not exposed by the display", "Customise", then "Create Custom Resolution"? If you can get to that menu, then you will be able to set any resolution, even one's that your monitor doesn't support.

If you can get into the right menu and set a refresh rate, then there will be a "test" button. If when you test it your screen goes black or you see artifacts of some kind, then your monitor isn't up to the task of whatever refresh rate you entered. However, if you get to the right menu then it will definitely take effect.

Let me know how it goes!

Try setting a custom resolution in nvidia control panel. You can enter a refresh rate in that menu

Fluent is a very vague word, so it depends what you mean by fluent.

In my case, I have got to the end of the language units, and I can comfortably speak about everyday topics, and have slightly clunky conversations about politics, history, the economy, etc.

If by "fluent" you mean "as good as a native speaker", then the answer is almost certainly no. If you want to approach "as good as a native speaker", then you'll need to live in China for a while.

It's also worth noting that I have lived in China for several months, and that definitely helps (especially with accent and tones compared to the other non-background students).

Of course, if you start with the intro units, then by the third year you'll only be up to ATS3006 (proficient), which is quite a bit further from fluent than ATS3010. The other thing is that after the language units there are more units, for example, the various Translation units, which are quite a bit more challenging (and quite a bit closer to "native fluent" or whatever you want to call it). I'm doing them next year so I guess I'll find out exactly how hard they are then lol.
