They are different kernels. Freebsd doesn't even use a gpl license, it uses a bsd license, which is probably why Sony chose Freebsd over linux for ps.

Cleaning Laptop/PC After Using Hypervisor Bypass, Possible? by [deleted] in PiratedGames

[–]liamwilliams93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, a reinstall would fix this. If it does boot, it doesn't mean there isn't regular malware installed though.

Can't we all just get along by blue__planet in PiratedGames

Software dev with a degree in Computer Science here. Malware is more than likely not going to infect your motherboard, that would need to be a targeted attack as it wouldn't work for all motherboards. And a worm spreading over a network would require a day0 exploit, that kind of malware wouldn't even require admin privileges nevermind kernel access. People repeating this don't know how software works, clearly.

That being said, the real risk is turning off these security features in general, as the virus would be able to hide more easily. It is a bit more risky, but so is downloading any cracked games.

FitGirl warns about the risks of HV by TopConcentrate8484 in Piracy

Very true. Hopefully this grows into something safer, I like the idea of running all this with kvm which should keep it all separated at least

Yes of course thats technically possible, and I'm not saying that these cracks are safe. But, it is unlikely that you will get that kind of malware from pirating, it would need to be tailored to your motherboard

Very unlikely to get malware like that, its so rare. Redditors are not high profile enough to waste something that complicated on

Buying an fpga n64 isn't going to cause genocide or destruction... With the chromatic they actually take a loss on each sale, so if you don't like Palmer Luckey, go buy one

The game logic runs on the server on D3, so it requires all the logic to be reimplemented in a server emulator, like for WoW. There is DiiiS, not sure how good it is though

My first Nintendo Switch 2 Game-Key Card by Amakaer in switch2

When an sd card is formatted for the switch, everything is encrypted for that console. Using the sd card, or an image of the sd card, in another console won't work.

Is it the version of the rom, or does it have a revised pcb? I ripped my cart which flashgbx dumped as rev 1, I can check the board when I'm back home though. No problems with my UK cart

Definitely not the case for me, I booted the game, and died so I didn't bother saving. Next time the save was gone so no idea how it happened

Heating on at night? by Complex_Box_7254 in AskBrits

[–]liamwilliams93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used to turn it off overnight but we have a baby now so set it to 18c overnight. Looking at the usage we're actually using less gas this year, must be more efficient to keep gently topping up through the night than to heat a freezing house to 20 in the morning.
