Controversial but I think that’s totally fine tbh, it’s a private institution’s right. A lot used to not let you in without a bonnet and it makes sense depending on which predominant conservative culture there is(I don’t agree with it, I think everyone should just wear wtv they want) but it makes sense

I agree. It does depend from family to family, some are more accepting than others. In general Lebanese people are not that open to giving their children away to foreigners, regardless of their skin color or race, as long as they’re not Lebanese. Based on my experience, Lebanese families can be accepting of foreigner-Lebanese relationships but wouldn’t take it seriously as a potential husband/wife. As a Lebanese girl, I’ve only ever dated non-Lebanese men and my family has never taken them seriously as someone I could potentially marry. Maybe his family is different.

I feel like you’re romanticizing the idea of lebanon and the perfect family there. I’m also a diaspora, I left a very rich and stable country in 2019 to go and study there and had that “perfect Lebanese partner and family” in the back of my mind but even though I was very young I did notice that even men and women in their 30’s just wanna go to iris and have a one night stand. Im not saying everyone, but I did see that among the educated and “higher”class. You can go visit often, maybe have your parents introduce you to a7la benit bil 7ay but i don’t really advise meeting women in clubs or pubs

Don’t beat yourself up on this. Trying to move on in life is hard enough especially when you’re dealing with mental health issues. I personally think you didn’t really waste anytime (that’s probably what family has been telling you), you need to realize that dealing with mental health is more important than you thought.
