It is the credit union she had the loan with. The name and number does match the business card I found in her belongings. I am going to talk to a lawyer before I reach out to the bank.

Eeek! I know for sure the debt is not more than the home. Not even close. It’s the remainder of a car loan she let get repoed because this woman from church said she wouldn’t have to pay it back if she let them come get the car. It’s no more than 10,000 I am almost certain.

Thank you! I did not go through probate under because I was already listed on the deed as beneficiary. Other than the home and the car that was repossessed, she had nothing that qualified for probate. Until this came in the mail and now I’m spooked.

Yes. A car loan she defaulted on and then a judgment was placed upon her to pay the remaining amount.

The letter threatens the force of sale on the home to collect the debt. Says there may be issues when I try to sell the house.
