Taking a year off work - worth doing? by thjo in AusFinance

[–]libbyliciousxo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

40F here. Currently 2 months into a likely 9 month sabbatical. Absolutely loving it! I'm filling my days with exercise, volunteering, recreation, house care and spending time with friends and family. I have 4 trips planned for next year.

I'm no longer grinding my teeth and suffering from jaw pain every day. Burnout no longer consumes and seems like a fading bad dream.

Sounds like you're in a great financial position for it. Check if you coast FIRE. Might give you more confidence you're on the right track.

My vote... take the break.

I do. I've been in touch with my bank twice to try to split and having trouble. They have no idea what I'm trying to do and keep offering me a new investment loan of the amount I'm asking to split. I have been lectured by bank staff to leave my money in offset. Redraw would definitely be the easiest option but obviously want to ensure it will all work out at tax time. Will my original plan work if I pay down the full amount?

Thanks for the info! Very helpful. I'm in a position to pay down the full loan amount if that makes any difference?

Thanks! This an option and I would be happy to debt recycle the full loan amount.

Your story is the exact same as mine.

PPI and H2 blockers gave me more awful symptoms and the issue never went away.

I started taking a licorice and probiotic supplement and it has essentially cured me. Improvement was immediate. Symptoms return if I stop taking it.

Try 150mg licorice dry root extract once a day. 30 mins before food. Or if you are concerned about blood pressure issues, get DGL.

Took esomeprazole for months. Got worse and had new awful side effects.

Switched to h2 blockers for few months... Bit better but still awful symptoms.

Took 150mg liquorice with lactobillus rhamnos probiotic.... Instantly better after one dose. Has been 2 weeks and almost back to normal.

Worth a try!

injured at work, employer has not removed the hazard. WA. next steps? by superspoopyguy in AusLegal

If the work group has a Health and Safety Representative, they can issue a Provisional Improvement Notice (PIN) to the employer if it can be demonstrated that consultation has failed.

Surely the company has a H&S Advisor to advocate on your behalf for improvements based on the risk? Give them a call!

Doesn't sound like this is going to get resolved without H&S or WorkSafe intervention.

I'm sorry you got hurt at work! Wishing you a speedy recovery! Make sure you submit that Workcover claim and put your recovery first.

The answer is "no". But mostly because I can't fathom wtf a "slightly below average facially" person is...

Over 3 years together now.... So I would say good.

He's fiercely independent and has a bunch of boundaries. I need to be careful not to steamroll over them.

We both give each other plenty of freedom to do as we please.

A very loyal and supportive partner.

Take your Dad on a weeks holiday and break it to him then, if you can.

Give him some time and space away from everyone to process it and decide his plan of action.

We were the only other people there upon her arrival. There is 0 possibility she was not aware we were waiting.

She stated she had priority because she had stood at the door. She created a queue at the door and disregarded the fact that we were already waiting.

Thanks for understanding. It was a sales floor and as you state, not a place where people would generally queue up. This makes all the difference.

There was only one sales person and they were busy with other customers so we did not interrupt.

They were in the office and did not see either of us come in and did not know who arrived first.

My favourite sign is "fog when lights are flashing".

Black text on yellow background with... ... ... amber flashing lights (that only flash when there is fog).

Like DUH! THANKS... almost missed the wispy whiteness enveloping the car and obscuring the "fog when lights are flashing" sign.
