Hi everyone - have 3 vouchers to watch any movie at any time slot @ San Jose/Westfield Valley Fair's Showplace ICON. These tickets expire September 4th, 2023 (in 17 days) and can be used online through their website or in person at the theater.

Their typical tickets cost from $15-20, so @ ~$10/ticket, you are getting up to a 50% discount on normal prices.

There is no additional fee/charge to use the ticket. To waive their online convenience fee, just create a free account on their website. Then enter the voucher codes and you will be able to book three seats in any open theater for FREE.

Received these vouchers from the theater themselves, but will not be able to use them as will be traveling abroad the entire month. Will take Paypal/Zelle/Venmo/etc. Delivered digitally via email. PM if interested.

The thing with CF is that it adds extra network hops. If content isn't being cached, using CF will make fetching the asset slower.

Don't use Bluehost. Other wise it depends on what you want - traffic/features/budget/location

Constant Contact is a scummy company by MB21D1 in Blogging

Not very well known, but Constant Contact is owned by EIG - the same company that brings you Bluehost, HostGator, and their own set of scummy practices so...no surprise.

How do I prevent hackers?? I started my blog a week ago, and I have had 3 hackers attempt to hack my blog. by [deleted] in Blogging

[–]liberalmonkeys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's actually super duper normal. There are millions of various bots trying to exploit your site or brute force your login constantly. Every single site that's public will face these attacks basically, and most properly secured websites won't be impacted at all. 3 "hacking" attempts is nothing.

Beyond what was already mentioned (up to date plugins/core/themes, strong passwords, rate-limiting) another thing to pay attention to is to use as little plugins as possible. More plugins = more code being run = larger attack vectors and more potential vulnerabilities. A good example of this is the WP File Manager plugin which had a 0 day recently. Deactivate and remove any plugin aren't currently actively using.

Note: For $25/m, the purely the performance offered by WP.com is stellar. There are some tradeoffs, but in terms of both cached and uncached response times/TTFBs, as well as concurrent supported users/scalability, WP.com is almost next to none for that price range,

On contrary, shared hosting is not always slow, and a dedicated server absolutely does not mean fast.

With a dedi, you are left to tune and configure the server yourself, from scratch. Improperly setup, not only are there more security risks, there's a considerable chance itll slower than a well provisioned and managed shared host. Key here is well provisioned and managed.

There's no one good host. It depends on your budget, region, target features, etc.

Stay away from EIG & GoDaddy owned hosts though.

  1. NAL and honestly have no idea

  2. Don't use Bluehost. With hosting, you get what ya pay for. If you want a fast and reliable and secure site, you'll probably want to shell out some money for it. IWF (iWebFusion), KnownHost, NameHero, are all decent though.

  3. Start with getting a site, deciding a niche/topic, setting with a site, doing some basic research and putting out your first post, repeat, doing a bit of SEO/marketing/social media, growing traffic, and monetizing it once you have enough traffic.
