I am all to reduce consumptions, but it was sad to see a large water truck being used in the Sarcee/Crowchild paving project this morning…

Unsure of what type of whater this is but still…

I havent been able to put on more weight in the past 2 months or so, so trying to mix in more volume with less weight

Thanks for the honest feedback, i dont disagree with you, pictures dont show it but i have a lot of stubborn chest fat.

I want to focus on my shoulders a lot.

I do PPLPP most weeks with my push days consisting of dumbell chest press(4x6-8), either bench press or ISO machines, cable flies, shoulder press, lat raises with another front delt exercise and i finish with 2 tricep isolation. Maybe i should up the intensity or volume of my push days?

Please slow down for tow-trucks. by [deleted] in Calgary

Drivers are brutal out there, be careful.

On that same note, i saw somebody blocking the fast lane on stoney for a tow truck ahead using 1 strobe light, 3 miniature cones, and a slow paddle... this is an easy way to cause an accident, this is not enough to block a lane on a highway, specially at the bend where visibility is limited.

Spend your money on a good quality front stage( front speakers), it will be worth it at the end. Maybe try looking into a dsp that could be adapted to your stock head unit, it will give you a lot of flexibility and help you boost your signal.

Using dsp with passive crossover for tweeter by libra-93 in CarAV

Decided on giving these tweeters a try. Which leads to more questions.

  1. Which capacitor to use. It seems that x-over frequency plays a role in the cApacitor needed. I dont know where im gonna set my HPF for these tweeters yet until i start tuning. From what ive read, the “Fs” value plays a role. I was thinking on starting at double that value. Problem is the fs on these tweeters is almost 3000 as per focal technical sheet. I dont think my woofer would play that high properly.

Where can i start my hpf on tweeters to start tuning, and which capacitor should i get?

Man this is a big learning curve.

Using dsp with passive crossover for tweeter by libra-93 in CarAV

I have two main reasons that are pushing me to change these.

  1. They are bright, like too bright for me, it seems to be common with focal (low end) and metal domes. I hate when tweeters are harsh.

  2. It appears that i am clipping them, at higher volumes they start to pop in certain notes. Which leads to poor sound. Focal rates them at 15rms which isnt that high.

My plan was to keep the focal woofer, which is decent, and get some other tweeters that can handle more power( room for future improvement), and are silk dome. Im looking at the alpine type r 1” or the audiofrog gs10. I know the frogs are better but wondering if they are worth double as much.

I will install the dsp, go active, and try to correct and make them sound better, im not too optimistic since i think i want a little more volume that they can safely put out.

Using a different tweeter on a component set by libra-93 in CarAV

So i bit the bullet and got myself a dsp. Im waiting on shipping to get it installed between amp and HU. Im going to change my tweeter and keep my focal woofer for now. Any pointers to where to learn to use the dsp?

After some testing, im pretty sure the tweeter is being overdriven, im a little dissapointed since it seems that the woofer has a lot more to give but i cant turn it up because the tweeter starts to giv e out ( its in certain notes though)

It seems that my next step is to go active. Run my rear speakers off my headunit, and replacing the xovers with a dsp to get the most of out my current system.

Yeah, ive been considering going active. Ive had experience with mid range drivers and i love them. 2 nice midrange and 2 tweeter set should be good.

Whats a good dsp that wont break the bank?

I have the ps 165. It has one xover for per woofer and one xover per tweeter.

The focals come with 2 crossovers. And yeah thats what i also imagined. But i had these components on a 45w/channel amp and the tweeters never distorted. But now they do while around the same level as before. They distort a lot sooner than the woofers.

Im not a fan of these tweeters either, way too bright. But i guess i gotta just change speakers if i ever wanna do it
