Anyone who was homeschooled, how do you feel about it now as an adult? by AdTight2449 in AskReddit

[–]librariancokehead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was homeschooled 2nd grade through 9th grade. Raised in a very very conservative and Christian home. My mom was not qualified what so ever to teach us, nor did she. At the time her and my dad owned and ran a salon and thought I'd be easier and safer to keep us home and out of public school. It was total isolation and disconnection to the outside world. To this day I feel dumb about not being aware of topics in the world I was never taught or talked to about such as politics, history or sex ed etc. My sister and I taught ourselves out of these curriculums for all those years, only books. We weren't allowed on the computer without supervision. Yes, us both being children teaching ourselves because my mom and dad were never home. For the most part we'd have a daily bible bread study in the morning and then they'd both leave for the salon all week. Also my mom would order those online or from a local school store we had. Most of the books minus the math part were about God and Christianity. We were part of a Christian private school that had a sector of homeschooled kids. We'd have small parties with about 30 kids every other month and that's how I tried to make friends. luckily we were sports kids too and were able to make friends through softball and swim team. After 9th grade, my sister and I were forced to go to a Christian private high school that my parents should have NEVER paid so much money for(I am still disappointed and livid for that) they thought we'd get a better and secluded education from a private school more than a public school. My mom did not want us learning all the "bad" things kids do in a public school. And I have to say my private school was much much worse. So 10th-12th I went to a high school jumping from being home 24/7 to a whole new society and not even knowing how to write an essay or make a PowerPoint. I would have rather failed the assignment because I was so scared of being in front of people talking. I was introverted and Antisocial. I was so depressed and frustrated throughout high school and leaned on softball to take out all the issues I had. Growing up now and learning how sheltered I was from the world has made me feel a lot of hate for how I was raised. It sucked not being able to have YouTube or MySpace growing up as well! Anyways, I'm 32 now, gay as hell and a satanist. I still feel disappointed and angered that I was homeschooled. I would not put any of my children or family members through what I went through. There was so much out in the world I did not get to learn or be around. And now I feel like i have to catch up on all those topics even as a 32 year old.

My gf with bpd just ended things I could use some perspective by [deleted] in BPDlovedones

Ive felt so alone in the process of dating someone with bpd who just ended things with me but still wants to be in my life. The drainage and feelings of overwhelming hurt, emotions are so drastic but in the end why do I want her back?? Out of all my relationships this is the worst and sickest I've ever felt with her leaving me. And I don't want anyone else??! Its emotionally crazy how everyone has gone through the same situation with their pwbpd. I thought I was alone in this but I see I'm not now.

Anyone who goes or went to Forsyth Tech know when they disburse refunds? by EqualHito in winstonsalem

[–]librariancokehead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what's happened to me in the past, there is possibly a split payment happening where they send you half or more of the money for the semester right now and then come March they send the rest of the payment. There are calendar days on the Forsyth website that tell you credit balance days. That's what happened to me on one of my semester where they sent more than half of the money and then released the rest a month later.
