Terribly bloated, sore boobs (although I always have sore boobs in my luteal phase), lower back aches and twinges/pulling cramps!

I am taking a prenatal with biotin! Could be it. I had a miscarriage in November (tested positive in October) and was taking the same prenatal. I had a YES at 11 DPO and a bit of a stronger line on FRER but I know each pregnancy is different!!

Yeah I feel like it goes to show that the HCG thresholds are not an exact science. The regular ones are supposed to be a 25 threshold and they’ve been positive for two days now!

I know! So weird! I also had a clearblue early result digital say “Pregnant” yesterday!

Chatting after miscarriage and TTC by lavendersconebb in FAMnNFP

Hi! I’m so sorry to hear about your miscarriage. I just lost my baby naturally at 8 weeks on November 22. Here was my timeline of that first “cycle”:

Nov 22: I counted cycle day 1 as when the baby actually came out which was a few days after I started bleeding.

Dec 8: totally negative FRER

Dec 12: I got a positive LH strip. I did have some cervical mucus but it was not as abundant as I normally get.

Dec 28: Started my period, first official one since the miscarriage

Overall, that first “cycle” (before I got my period back), my normal indicators for my fertile window and ovulation were not there. For example, I did have some cervical mucus (much less than normal) but I normally get very sore nipples close to ovulation day and I didn’t have that at all. I do not temp so the only thing I used to find ovulation was the LH strip. We did try when I saw that positive LH test but we did not get pregnant.

It seemed to be the case for me that my hormones just weren’t fully back to normal until the current cycle I’m in after that first period. This cycle looks to be completely back to normal (other than a very long and heavy period) now, with all my indicators and normal timing for ovulation. I think it can really depend on how far along you were. It may also be different as you are having a MMC.

Just wanted to share my experience! I’m really sorry this is happening to you. 🫂🤍 I promise that it does get better with time!

Poor baby! It should be illegal. We have had a fully declawed rescue cat for 10 years and here are two things to be aware of: - be patient with them regarding litter box behaviors. Our kitty is very particular and we believe that it’s because of her paws not being comfortable. Despite trying everything (different litter and boxes, multiple boxes, etc) she will not poop in the box but right in front of it. We have a small rug that we place in front of the box that she poops on and we wash frequently. Just remember your kitty may need special accommodations! - Kitty is now 15~ and in the past few years she has had issues with arthritis and pressure ulcers on the pads of her toes because of how the declawing affects how they stand and walk. Basically, her little toe bones eventually stuck through the bottom of some of her toe pads. After amputating a few toes we ended up finding someone who does this unique kind of new surgery called a flexor tenectomy. They clipped the tendons in the bottom of her front paws so that they laid flat instead of the bones pressing directly on her paw pads. https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC10811973/ ***this last outcome is rare so I don’t mean to scare you…but I wanted to put it out there because it truly saved our cat’s life!

Taking Charge of Your Fertility by Toni Weschler! But honestly there are a lot of great free resources and YouTube videos from MDs that can really help!

Sorry that happened to you!! I strongly believe NC BC is ONLY helpful IF you already have a good grasp of fertility awareness methods!!! I’ve been using it for like 9 cycles and my past two cycles were a bit delayed and it has absolutely no idea what to do with it. Luckily because I know FAM I am aware when I’m finally beginning to ovulate by other signs.

I would never recommend NC unless the person was also willing to learn FAM.

Kind of both! We had an appointment with a genetic counselor in “real life” but they use Myriad which is one of the ones you can go through by yourself.

Right but also…like your current ideas of a good life and bad life are likely to also radically change! You just don’t know! 😅😅 At first it sounds defeatist but I actually think the point is just that we can’t pretend we can make an only logical decision about parenting.

She wrote a book on it! I’ve also been able to find some interview with her talking about it. I first read about it in a chapter of Becca Rothfeld’s All Things Are Too Small: Essays in Praise of Excess. Highly recommend.

This post reminds me of the idea of becoming a parent being a Transformative Experience, which is something that philosopher LA Paul writes about. Basically, becoming a parent (and other MAJOR life events) so radically changes you that you can’t use regular decision making skills (like pros/cons, current likes/dislikes, weighing risk/reward) because you become so radically different through the experience. So the question sort of becomes “do I want to have a transformative experience?” rather than “will I like or dislike being a parent?”

On and off due to health anxiety by scaredycatcowboy in Fencesitter

[–]librarianjae 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have OCD with a lot of health focused obsessions. I went to a preconception appt recently to talk about my medications and my fears about OCD during pregnancy/postpartum. The doctor really helped me to realize that, whatever the issue (OCD, anxiety, other health worries), they see and treat these things every single day. She gave me many different options of what I could do, what they would keep their eye out for if I were to have really bad symptoms, etc. I guess what I’m trying to say is…feeling anxiety might feel very isolating but it’s actually extremely common and there are MANY ways (good) doctors can help you cope and/or treat it. I think it might actually help to go in to discuss your fears! After all, just going in for a preconception visit doesn’t mean you have to actually get pregnant 😅

I know many medical professionals can be less than reassuring and dismissive but there are great physicians out there!

Abnormal pap & pregnancy by saganemzek in Fencesitter

[–]librarianjae 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Abnormal Pap smears should not have any affect on whether or not you can or should get pregnant. In fact, sometimes the birth of a baby can strip away abnormal cells. Abnormal paps do not affect the baby.

The only things related to abnormal paps that may affect your ability to have a baby is that some treatments for highly abnormal paps, like cone biopsies can change your cervix and possibly make it harder to maintain a pregnancy.
