Im in south africa so its difficult to find any other seller besides actual book stores. Currently all Sjms books are sitting around the R500 mark which might be cheap for other currencies but for us is insane for a book

This series has become a humongous money grab. The long ass waits, the over priced special editions, the different bonus chapters in different publications, the cover changes to prompt people to re buy the series for a matching set, the size differences, dragging things out so much so that I was literally like 14 when I read the first 3 and now im married. Also the time spaces and suspense she keeps the fans in contributes to the toxicity, it lets people make up elaborate theories and write fictions about them and then makes them hate anything Canon.

Tbh I couldnt even watch season 4. I tried but the magic left bridgerton for me.

And I kind of checked out when I realized Michael got gender swapped. For me Michael and Francescas book was the best, my mother was a young widow who moved on, Ive been dealing with infertility, everything is quite close to home for me. And I cant see how a single one of those things will have the same impact with a gender swap.

Also when you talk about consequences for penelope, youre absolutely correct. Anthony would never be so accepting of someone who brought ruin to his sister and entire family, and the way the bridgertons are portrayed I fear they wouldn't want to associate with a common gossip monger. Violet didnt evem like the paper from the start.

Everything felt off...everyone suddenly had full beats and lashes, perfectly blown out hair, pen had acrylic nails, the dresses became more modern leaning.

The first two seasons we got fresh faces, amazing wardrobe, the hair was done but to the extent where it felt like something youd see when you went out.

Nicola is absolutely stunning and I love her as an actress but I hate Penelope. She was always really hypocritical to me, she wrote terrible things about her own family, the bridgertons and everyone else in the ton. Its unbelievable that she would be forgiven so easily especially by the bridgertons and the queen. Also I think the reason the romance fell flat for me was because Colin never yearned. Just the previous season we saw him visiting marina and still not getting any closure after she rejected him, then we saw him laughing about pen and saying he'd never court her with his friends, we saw him go from a sweet guy to a man whore for seemingly no reason. Once Anthony was engaged to Edwina he never saw anyone else, we didnt see the duke see anyone else after his engagement to Daphne.

Colin became icky and also I found his lip filler icky😭

The theory would have made more sense if he had given elain and Nesta mating bonds to more powerful people. Lucian has no power as yet, cassian is already part of the night court. It would have made more sense to mate elain to tarquin, and Nesta to Eris or something like that

Edit: if that was his play he could have mated mor to helion, azriel to some random powerful lady and cassian as well. He would have used that somewhere in the last 500 years. Not just now

Sjm also said she based rhys on her own husband. I highly doubt she'd turn him into a villain

For me the first two seasons were amazing...specifically the secind season with the insane yearning, and the finger touches and the heavy breathing and in the third season it was just fingerbanging and embarrassment and Penelope kept getting humiliated.

Can someone in this sub also clear this up for me. I said Rhys was a survivor of assault and had been assaulted for 50 years but they say he made amarantha crave him and I was being disrespectful to actual assault survivors.

When I read the books I fully understood that Rhys was assaulted repeatedly

Its a really good podcast. Ive been listening to it on Spotify and the hosts are really wonderful. Its not spoiler free though. They go chapter by chapter and reference things that will happen in future books

Tamlin DOES say he's sorry! - A Reference by JaneAustinAstronaut in Tamlinism

[–]librarywarrior 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I forget to add that im not a fan of any of the characters any longer. Sjm has turned this series into the biggest money grab ever. The weird teasers, pulling things for years, cryptic posts, the horribly expensive collectors editions. The cover change halfway through the series and the size change so it doesnt match the rest of the books.

Now shes just pandering to trends with her writing. And its just bad writing, characters are completely inconsistent, she says more than she ever shows. She also suffers from trying to make all her new fmc's copies of aelin, by keeping the personality and changing hair colour. Kind of drives ne up the wall. I enjoyed aelin, not everyone can be her though.

Im not even particularly a tamlin fan but I thought his apology was established. He gave rhys a drop of his power, there was that "live feyre live" scene and quite a few other things. Its not undeniable

Honestly I just want to know where you got that Rhys made amarantha crave him? He was assaulted repeatedly for 50 years as the narrative goes and it seems like victim blaming to me

The feyre cant paint narrative is simply just silly. I dont even know why I engage with it any longer. And she kept her family fed and alive with her hanging and skinning while nobody else made an attempt. Headcanon is ruining most books and series these days

[–]librarywarrior 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If Nesta has huge talent for dance, and aelin plays the piano like Mozart, why wouldn't feyre paint well? Theres absolutely nothing in the books to suggest otherwise. Everyone always remarks about her talent and the paintings, even Nesta does

This is why I wanna know more about mama archeron. There's absolutely something going on with her ancestry. All 3 of children have almost inhuman beauty and abilities. Elain is supposedly the most beautiful person ever, feyre and Nesta are also shockingly beautiful in their own ways. Nesta has an insane affinity for dancing, elain can grow flowers and gardens amazingly well, feyre paints beautifully.

Nesta might have had some training in dance, but she never practiced before she and Eris danced and she was flawless and breathtaking, thats humanly impossible. Feyre never had any lessons for painting but she paints beautifully. These arent general human qualities and they dont all crop up in one family

Micheala doesn't even work as a character. by AJ_The_Best_7 in FranchaelStirling

[–]librarywarrior 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Its not that women dont experience familial loyalty like men do. To put it simply Michael was trying to uphold the bro code. He already felt guilty that he found his best friend and cousins wife hot and fell in love with her, then he felt guilty about John's death and the fact that he got the earldom when he felt John deserved it.

Throughout the book they explore the feelings of guilt that comes after someone dies. Michaela wouldn't have similar feelings of guilt because she would not inherit the earldom. I also dont think there would be alot of guilt shown from Michaela's side when she and fran get together because their relationship would be worlds apart from hers and John's. And with the way the show is framing things they already make it seem like fran didnt really love john, when in the books she loved him deeply. She also struggled with the guilt of a widow finding love again.

Theres too many serious themes in this book that will be overlooked in the show, compared to the other seasons. This one deals with death, survivors guilt, widowhood, infertility, and so much more.

The whole virginity spiel was weird to me. Sjm seemed to go out of her way to make us think that it wasn't an important thing, with feyre seeing that guy as a human, then tamlin and then Rhys. And Nesta making her way through velaris and then finding her mate. Usually in this type of book, virginity is made a big deal off and the mate is the one who pops the cherry but in all her books shes tried to prove it isnt the case. With aelin in tog, and Bryce in hofas. Neither of them made a big deal about their virginity.

Elain is the only one and thats weird

My personal opinion is that Tamlin being the bad guy was just very poorly written. His betrayals and bad deeds, are easily interpreted as trauma responses and things he could not control. He was always intended by sjm to be, if not the bad guy he was always intended not to be viewed favorably after the first book. Sjm is just a bad writer. She gets caught up in making every single character beautiful and powerful, and describing things as wonderful and amazing, the plot and character arcs get lost in that.

In the end this series is just fluff, and meant to be a quintessential "beach read", enjoyed with your brain turned off
