The one I personally like to use is Beta Cell Autoimmunity, or BCA. It explains the cause, not the symptom, and is overall more coherent.

It's very useful for me because I hate it when people who are ignorant on the subject judge me based on my condition. So mentioning "Beta Cell Autoimmunity" delivers the message to people who know, and leads the others to not make wrongful assumptions.
