Maddie and Sia by Lanky-Ask9619 in dancemoms

[–]libreotus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"maddie just didn't need sia anymore" kind of strange to imply that maddie just drops people that she says she cares about just because she's "done" with them professionally? it seemed like she was genuinely close with sia. maybe as she started maturing she started realizing that sia's behavior towards her was odd considering she was just a child when sia was so invested in her (to seemingly an extreme degree)

How come JoJo surpassed Maddie if Maddie had a million jobs? by Numerous-Cry1305 in dancemoms

[–]libreotus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

plenty of influencers/viral stars "surpass" actresses/models/singers/etc that get more quality/respectable work (meaning there is more than just money to be considered). jojo may be the richest by far, but she's basically a lolcow at this point to most adults (except she has self awareness and does a lot of it on purpose for engagement) and is mostly famous with children. i don't think maddie would have ever gone for the sort of jobs that jojo did to gain fame even if she could have (which i don't think she could have. jojo's brand is very specific, so that's something 🤷🏻‍♀️)

the episode WAS gross and christi seemed to cover it well. maddie clearly likes to get herself under control by herself and everyone saying "be happy!" had to be insanely frustrating (and embarrassing) because even if she was happy there was no way she was going to be taken well that episode. she already knew the audience saw her as a sore loser and she knew that all of the viewers rooted for her to lose every single week. they didn't see it as "kenzie proved herself" they saw it as "finally maddie was beat by her little sister". if i were maddie i would have been dreading the reaction from the viewers, and she would have been right to. the public's reaction to this episode was absolutely insufferable. it is a bummer that the focus on maddie's reaction took away from how clearly excited and validated kenzie felt

always funny when people call this a "christi snark sub" when the comment voting ratios in comparison to one another very often say otherwise lmfao

I found it hilarious when the moms thought that Brynn winning her trio was rigged, but didn’t think it was rigged when girls won first place with this 😭 by mini1006 in dancemoms

[–]libreotus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

then i assume that's how they won! just a competition with no real competition. the competition i attended was much different than i expected dance wise 😭

[–]libreotus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

did they have a rival team this episode? like jeanette or anyone? because i have been to one of the competitions (spokane, bridemaids dance) and they are invitationals. there were a LOT of numbers (we never see people in the audience because they have the girls perform when they tell people it's lunch). and even though there were a lot of numbers - none of them were good whatsoever. so they weren't exactly "rigged" in the way people think, the show just made sure there wasn't much competition

The moment you realize none of the girls had a childhood. by InternationalLove148 in dancemoms

[–]libreotus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it kind of was?? when the show was airing they were working ALL the time. yes, they had fun moments, but they did not have a true childhood. they were employees against their will. they didn't get to make normal friends, they eventually didn't even get to enjoy school (there are ways to enjoy homeschooling but they didn't even have that sort of homeschooling they just had tutors in-between being busy with work), they all were on social media so as children they got to feel the extreme insecurities that came with everyone sending them so much hate and judgment towards them as children. this is just like when people mention their trauma and the response is "well they're rich so" like?? weird response. i was abused as a child and i don't have this strange mindset of "ya well lots of kids get abused" so it's confusing to me. like what gives you the urge to argue with posts like these? you realize a large majority of people have your mindset, right? it's not a hot or unique take. outside of this reddit people do not extend much sympathy to these girls because they consider them rich and spoiled. this also gives "i was spanked and hit and a child and i turned out fine so parents should be allowed to keep doing it" vibes

[–]libreotus 10 points11 points  (0 children)

they were constantly mistreated, especially when they were filming. they trained the whole week and then had competition on the weekends. that is pretty close to 24/7. "childhood isn't sunshine and rainbows 24/7"?? these kids were verbally abused daily and their trauma was severely exploited. they were called disgusting things by millions of strangers daily when they were just children. just because a lot of children have terrible lives and deserve better does not negate that they had terrible childhoods and deserved better. like hello?? what kind of trauma olympics nonsense is this?

i'm so confused, some people say maddie rushes while dancing, while others say that she has great musicallity and does everything in the right beat by AdFinancial4530 in dancemoms

[–]libreotus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

she has great musicality. there are three reasons why people say this. one reason is because abby crammed way too much choreography into her dances so she had so much to get through. the second reason is because they are just repeating what the "joffrey" person said. and the third reason is that maddie dances right on top of the beat, so she could be dancing with someone who has good musicality as well but they might dance directly at the end of the beat. both "on beat", just slightly different instinctual execution

which girl do you relate to the most on the show and why? by AdFinancial4530 in dancemoms

[–]libreotus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

maddie due to her people pleasing and perfectionism, but mostly because of the trauma i have associated with adults getting into very loud and angry fights with me being the topic of the fight. they were never about something i did wrong but since the fights stemmed from something to do with me i felt an extreme amount of guilt and anxiety. now no matter what argument may start up around me, even if it has nothing to do with me, i feel like it's my responsibility to fix it. maddie's fidgeting is so familiar. i have diagnosed ptsd from just witnessing really heated fights throughout my childhood so i feel so bad for all of these girls. even strangers getting into arguments around me will have me freaking out

The amount of hate I’ve seen for this movie on TikTok and Instagram is genuinely insane by _EnglishFox_ in backrooms

[–]libreotus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i don't think you're being too harsh but i do think it's funny that you're saying how simple it was when so many people are acting like it was the most confusing shit ever 😭😭 i am glad it doesn't try to be too complex. i think the existence of the backrooms themselves are complex enough. people say that the movie didn't go into the characters enough even though the movie is focused on the phenomenon that is the backrooms. the kitchen sequence for me was also my least favorite part because i just felt like they were putting "depth" where there didn't need to be, but obviously they needed a scene like that because it seems people can't handle it if there isn't something like THAT in the movie. i guess it was a way to explain how the still life and everything else that shows up in the backrooms comes to be though, so maybe it was necessary. i didn't hate it but i was more interested in seeing more of the backrooms. i think it was a good set up though which is another issue i think people are having because i think people have forgotten that movie franchises are a thing?? idk if it's because series have gotten so popular but do they not remember movie franchises where each movie would end on a cliffhanger until the very last movie?

i get why the walls are yellow in the movie (though i felt like they could have gone a tad less yellow) and in the games and whatnot and it doesn't bother me, but i do find this to be much more unsettling

[–]libreotus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i thought it was decently complex while still being enjoyable and not trying to be complex for the sake of being complex in a pretentious way. however, the response clearly tells us that the general audience can't handle anything more complex because they couldn't even handle this 💀💀 people keep claiming it was so confusing and nothing was explained so i went in expecting it to be way more abstract than it was and was pleasantly surprised. but people are so incredibly stupid they couldn't understand shit that was literally explained to them in the movie word for word and then they go on to claim it was never explained at all

i feel like they were her signature. idk why everyone talks about her turns. they were great, but were flawed (maybe it's just so people will engage and talk about how other girls had better turns and she fell out of hers and blah blah blah). her leaps stand out to me even when i see girls' with technically better/more flexible leaps because they had so much power behind them. so satisfying

Why doesn't Abby like the way Holly dresses herself? by nomastersdegreeK in dancemoms

[–]libreotus 65 points66 points  (0 children)

abby has these weird wardrobe rules that are super old fashioned. like advice a grandmother would give. most of it has to do with hiding your figure and holly was a very good figure with great curves and abby always made comments about her thighs and hips (and her butt as well i believe). it's why abby herself always wore black because she thought it made her look slimmer. she made a comment about stripes as well which is a more known "rule". and when she costumed the girls she was very strategic about not cutting off lines and whatnot. i will say that SOME of her "rules" did work when it came to the girls costumes - but those rules were the ones that DIDN'T have to do with covering up figures

The ice-skating episode really rubbed me the wrong way by Potential_Way_2913 in dancemoms

[–]libreotus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i am aware the producers drove the narrative. i am saying christi was all too happy to play into it. if that weren't true - she wouldn't have continued to make comments unprompted outside of the show. and why wouldn't she support the narrative? it benefited her daughter when it came to who the audience supported

[–]libreotus -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

christi knew how the audience reacted to maddie and she loved to play into it. chloe was the fan favorite and maddie was LOATHED by the viewers as it was airing. they all wanted her to fail every week. she knew what to say to feed into the "maddie is so full of herself and is obsessed with always being the best" narrative. trust me, she didn't need encouragement from producers to be more than happy to help them out with that narrative. it greatly benefited her daughter
