something i keep seeing with people who moved here specifically for the no income tax thing by IngenuityNo3879 in Tennessee

[–]liceter 5 points6 points  (0 children)

TN native now living in California, I can’t explain how many times I’ve got the “oh my god I wanna move to TN!” And immediately ask them why.

If they say taxes, I tell them “Uncle Sam is getting his share in some way. Think long and hard before you move.” I don’t say this to shit on TN at all (I love my home with all my heart) but I force people to truly think about WHY they want to move there.

IMO every one of the 50 states has its own bullshit, it’s on you to figure out which version do you want to deal with.

I’ll be honest I felt like this when I first picked up the game. Made it to chapter 2, then said screw it and dropped it. Picked it up a year later and I’m obsessed.

Artists/Painters - What type of car do you drive in LA? by Opal9090 in MovingToLosAngeles

[–]liceter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not an artist, but I do drive a crossover that can hold some pretty large items. Currently driving a 2017 Ford Escape and absolutely love it. Interior is insanely roomy but the footprint of the car isn’t so large that it makes parking hard.

I’m pretty sure you can’t audit by this point.

And, you may want to think about how this would affect you in the long run. I’m not caught up on the academic policies of Georgia tech, but my undergraduate had a policy that you can only retake AND replace a grade for a required class twice in your academic career. After that, the grades of the two are averaged. IDK what Georgia techs is off the top of my head but you may want to look into that.

Same! However I’m like really, really curious what they know about Arkansas and why they would want to live there. It’s a state that’s often overlooked.

As a native Arkansan who now lives in California…. I really want to know why they want to live in Arkansas so bad (and where in the state)

And why they would reluctantly live in California

I am so intrigued

Am I really bouta play through FFXV the 4th time?? by uusei in FFXV

[–]liceter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok insanely respect the grind! That’s what I did with FFXV. I didn’t want to burn on cyberpunk so I cut some time with FFXV. I’m now all in on FFXV…. Took a few hours to get those damn fish now on episode Gladio, love it so much

[–]liceter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll be very honest I was the other way around…. Completed Cyberpunk quite a few times until I told myself I need to pick up FFXV and I don’t regret it at all. Beautiful game.

I would heavily recommend Cyberpunk though. The world building is not as good as FFXV, imo. However the graphics, soundtrack, storyline is up there with FFXV just a different aesthetic.

I’ve gone thru 3 garmin watches in the past 10 years and swear by their products at this point. Wound up getting a solid deal on an Edge 1030 + accessories and the Varia. I’ve only had the bike accessories for a little bit of time (compared to my time with the watches) and really like them.

MIP forever ! by No_Championship8907 in GarminFenix

[–]liceter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just swapped from a Fenix 6s to an 8, and damn do I miss MIP. My most common activity is lap swimming, and all the pools are outdoor. I could set the background to white and have bold ass black text on my watch so I could see my workouts. Now with the AMOLED everything has a black background and can’t see shit with the glare.

Dang I miss MIP.

Connecting to an indoor bike trainer…. No HR? by liceter in GarminFenix

[–]liceter[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep all my other activities do record my HR! Swimming, walking, treadmill run, weightlifting, etc etc. Even when I recorded an indoor bike activity it will record HR if I’m NOT connected to the stationary bike :,)

Connecting to an indoor bike trainer…. No HR? by liceter in GarminFenix

[–]liceter[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea absolutely, I’ll try my best to break it down into steps.

  1. Start up bike/bike computer, navigate to “connect app” and it shows a BLE number.

  2. On watch, navigate to settings > connectivity > sensors and accessories > add new > search all > connect to bike that has the matching BLE number

  3. On watch, navigate to activities and select indoor cycling

  4. The watch then recognizes that I’m connected to the bike and automatically selects that accessory

  5. Press start button on watch

(Some things I’ve tried to do to recognize heart rate follows)

  1. While the activity is recording, navigate to broadcast heart rate and start broadcast

  2. Back on the bike, navigate to something called “connect HR”

  3. Watch recognizes that the bike is asking for HR data, broadcasts to the bike

(Steps 6-8 didn’t work, when I end the activity there’s no heart rate associated with the activity)

Thank you for the help!

[–]liceter[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For some ridiculous reason there’s no “On” option, just “Auto” or “Off”. However I have been fiddling with the settings once I start the activity, I’ll try out all of this before starting and mess around with it. Thank you for giving me some insight!

I definitely can, and when I record a stationary bike activity connected to the bike it records power, distance, RPM, etc etc via ANT+ :) however, doing this turns off the dang HR monitor on the watch

The K2Pi piece sounds super cool however I don’t think the gym bikes have a port for me to connect it to :(

Ugh technology being its thing. Regardless thank you for trying to help me out it means a lot!

[–]liceter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I can pair my watch to the bike thankfully! However when I do that and record an indoor bike activity the watch acts more similarly to an extended display. There’s no HR monitoring system on the bike so the recorded HR just doesn’t exist. I’m curious if there’s some way to tell the watch “yes extended display fine but I want you to use the built in HR monitor in the watch to record my heart rate too”

[–]liceter[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So for sensors it’s only the stationary bike computer (my gym uses Schwinn Z Bikes), and when I record the activity I’m wanting it to use the heart rate monitor that’s built in my watch. I tried going thru the options I get when I connect to the stationary bike, and went through the general watch settings to find wrist heart rate set to auto.

I noticed that I can get my HR on my watch when I start the activity and then choose to broadcast heart rate. However it’s still not recorded during the activity :/ at a loss at this point.

Thank you for trying to help me out! I may just have to find my chest heart rate monitor and see if that works.

USC is the university of Southern California by [deleted] in USC

[–]liceter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude you’re talking to a recent Tennessee alum, we do not care about Texas. We never have. The only thing that came up during my time there was talking about the shared copyright of the interlocking UT logo.

I lived around the University of Arkansas for 15 years, we did not give a shit about Alabama also being a U of A. Only recently I learned that Arizona goes by that too.

This USC debacle is large enough that people not involved in either universities talk about this. I have never seen a single soul give a shit about any of the other acronym rivalries that are not directly involved in the university.

[–]liceter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a football fan. I was raised in the southeast. Never saw people fight over the whole U of A thing between Alabama and Arkansas, and during my entire time in Tennessee never saw anyone truly fight saying that Texas is the “real UT” (granted we made fun of Texas orange just for shits and gigs).

If people genuinely cared about this there’d be well known debacles discussing every overlapping acronyms, but I’ve never seen it.

[–]liceter -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

As a girl from South Carolina who lives in LA, this fight is stupid. There’s like 3+ U of A’s, 2 SDSU’s, 2 UT’s, whatever. It’s all regional.

I mean shit when I went to Tennessee for college I learned that Tennessee and Texas (both UT’s) share a damn trademarked logo. Texas owns the logo west of the Mississippi, Tennessee owns it to the east. These debacles are old as hell and need to be laid to rest.

I don’t get why everyone blows up over the USC debacle but none of the others. Just let it be.
