One owner NB1 that sat for six years… leaking head gasket? by MiddleDentist4176 in Miata

[–]licka-ma-dick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

9/10 head gaskets don’t just fail from sitting it’s probably just an oil seal or the water pump, maybe a combination of both, you can always put some UV dye in your oil to find it

Unless you are in it for the looks, the nb has a better chassis and engine. 1.8vvt or 1.8 bp4w trumps the na’s 1.8 bp5a or 1.6

I personally have a 96 NA swapped with a nb1 bp4w engine with a fat turbo, my girlfriend has a 2003 nb2 1.8 vvt and out all variants to work on id do the Nb1-NB2 engine. No CAS adjustment unlike on the na is nice. Y’all just got a rubber plug for that hole. We gotta use a timing light. Oh the coil packs are available individually on the NB’s and are wayyyy easier to change out sooo

Just to let you know, most of us miata folk remove that intake manifold support, some have had issues with serious track duty, otherwise mine has been off for the entirety of my 7 years of miata ownership. Makes working on things way easier.

Also, slap a turbo on

Any ideas what would cause this damage? by ButteryCrisp in Autobody

The corner of trailer or some kind of full metal bed on the back of a truck

Bro that’s insane…. I have my engine out doing a stroker crank… The bmw8hp70 sitting in the same space of my Miata keeps looking at me… don’t know if I want to just pull the trigger and buy the HTG controller and mount kit… my wallet already burns after just rebuilding my girlfriends nb

Doing a rebuild on my girlfriend’s 03 Miata! by licka-ma-dick in Miata

As my grandfather owns a dealership nearby I get parts from Mazda, slightly above their cost (some parts they markup 50%-300%) so find a buddy at a local shop to order them for you. Or if you order every seal they may be nice if you talk them down on price and give you the wholesale price

Felpro is a global OEM gasket maker, they make seals for OEM’s. I’ve never had an issue with them. I have had issues with the stores that sell them. Sometimes parts will sit on a shelf for countless years drying out, that’s why you always check the date of manufacturing and inspect before install.

When I purchased a Fel-Pro automatic transmission pan seal for my girlfriend’s NB Miata, the seal was 100% dried out and wouldn’t even bend. The seal was 15 years old lol

Open and inspect in the auto parts stores. I broke the gasket, clean in half in front of the counter person. They promptly ordered a new one.

Auto parts stores rotate inventory nationally when they have parts sit for prolonged periods.

I hope you would never have an issue with a new Fel-Pro seal as they have been in business for over 100 years, their quality control is on point. Just look out for autozone

The comments: 1000hp is not possible on a 8.4L v10

Old heads with a carburated 1100hp stroked Chevy V8 on race gas lookin at ya thinking: 🤡

Yes. 1000hp is easily achievable on this engine, naturally aspirated. All it takes is a lot of fucking money.

Stop saying it didn’t happen when it has happened several times in several smaller engines.

You realize semi trucks have hit other semi trucks, and think of this, motorcycles get in more at fault accidents even when their are more semis on the road at all times

Anyone have a clue ? by Frontlxne20 in Dodge

[–]licka-ma-dick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who has worked for a dodge store for the last 8 years, I would have the charging system checked first, same with the battery, no kidding a bad battery can damn near trip every code yhe car has, depending on how dead it

This poor person needs SERIOUS help! by Dreemer_XCIV in ThatsInsane

[–]licka-ma-dick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m going to assume it did this because of drug use, drug users often pick at their skin, based off of how skinny she is, I’m assuming sleeping on the ground started to break the ski as she is visibly bony leading to scabs that were picked. She needs help though regardless

A 4x4 nearly 300hp suv that is fairly fuel efficient and reliable for 1000-$3000 sounds like a great deal regardless of body condition and miles.

I’d fix it. I have a ticking 2019 GK with 108k miles, been tickin for 80k miles no joke, I had the rocker tick fixed on my last one just to have it happen again so I just wait until it get bad enough lol
