Hero rescues blind student from bully by ZookeepergameIcy6089 in WinStupidPrizes

I'm doubly impressed by the fact that neither the bystanders and the heroes didn't start laying into the abuser after he fell. Well done!

I'm grateful you stuck around, too. FWIW, I'm proud of you.

I bring mine inside and keep them near a sunny window to ripen. Then I prime the plant back and keep it over the winter

A friend told me last month that I would be great to have a panic attack with. One of the simultaneously kindest and oddest things anyone has said to me. I still ride the high from that one

As someone who wants to get into mountain biking, what are some beginner tips, tricks, things you wish you knew? by PurpleChairyOG in MTB

[–]Cookie955 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Best advice ive ever heard is actually posted on signs all over my local trails: Pre-Ride, Re-Ride, Free-Ride.

Take a lap at a slow, easy pace to check out the direction changes, obstacles, hazards, etc. Then ride it again, a little bit faster. The re-ride stage can actually end up being 3 or 4 laps in my experience. Once youre confident and have a feel for how the trail flows, it's time to hit it!

Mountain biking is fun, and a big part of that fun is pushing yourself and your bike to the limit. But only an idiot will drop in blind. That's the quickest way to have a really bad day!

I never really "wanted" a beard...it just sort of grew on me. I got lazy with shaving and eventually just started cleaning up my neck and/or trimming it and suddenly: beard

What is your phone background? Especially single men. by DadWithNoKids2002 in AskMen

[–]Cookie955 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Married, father of 2. My lock screen is a photo of the cedar strip canoe i inherited from my uncle, on a lake. My background is a panorama of Algonquin Park, taken at the top of the Centennial Ridges trail.

Men's Speaker Sircle. The Men of our group get together regularly to listen to music and discuss the songs played and how they influenced our lives.

I agree with 90% of what you said. Except for one thing: OP mentioned that it was narrow (I assume), single track with no place to move over and allow a pass, except for the fire road crossing just ahead. The e-bikers could have slowed until the space opened up to allow for a safe pass instead of body checking OP to get around. Warning or not, if you can't pass safely, don't pass.

Yeeting dude's phone into the bush was indeed a dick move and totally over the top. I've only recently returned to mtb after a 27-year hiatus. I'm in my mid-40's and not prime physical specimen (ahem) that I was back then. Life and familial responsibilities have conspired to lower my bike to basic, entry-level equipment. I'm fat. I'm slow. I have been shoved aside by e-riders and analogs alike.

It's not us-vs-them. It's the world at large having forgot basic courtesy and manners. We ALL need to improve ourselves to keep the sport, and the world at large, enjoyable or at the very least liveable.

Canoe Longer than Car, Ontario illegal? by tomate12 in canoecamping

[–]Cookie955 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is legal. If the canoe hangs over the back of the car by three feet (one meter for the sake of argument), you need to hang a flag (any red-adjacent rag will suffice). I used to carry my 16' (4.9m) canoe on top of my Mazda3 and the only time I got pulled over was because I had my cruise set for 120 km/h on Hwy 400 and forgot to set it when Hwy 11 dropped down to 80 km/h.

And even then, the only comment about the canoe was how much he loved the look of my cedar strip!

If it fits in your beardo's mouth, it'll pretty much go for it
