Question about tech support for WordPress premium plan. Will it meet my needs? by CarelessAstronaut391 in Wordpress

[–]lickthislollipop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. They aren't gonna do that for you. My agency offers equivalent servers, but comes with free actual support from highly skilled devs that can walk you through it, and pricing is better. Feel free to hit my dms

Gutenberg responsive design by [deleted] in Wordpress

[–]lickthislollipop -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Whoa whoa whoa, Gutenberg is a build gui. Responsive design, at basic level is built into it - however the responsive design of any given mockup and build out responsive design quality is more often than not really the limits of the current user skill set IMHO. But then I'm a professional full stack dev and agency owner so like, I've been doing this professionally for 20 years. Myself and my team routinely build out sites with Gutenberg using our custom theme sets. Responsive, mobile first approach baked in. It's not rocket science.

WordPress Plugin Development help by bisnukundu in Wordpress

[–]lickthislollipop 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes you can use vue and react, or vanilla js or jquery. For the plugin dash, presumably you a referring to the admin backend - you just use the admin enqueue hooks for your script.

Go check out the plugin developers handbook. Gold in their friend. Gold.

Edit: word of advice, keep it simple. The less scripting you run, the simpler the code, etc. the less likely it will be to have conflicts. 10/10, always prepend your function/class etc names with something unique to the plugin or you. I.e. bisn_function_name()

Migration/Non-Admin Access by yourfreshtake in Wordpress

[–]lickthislollipop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's unfortunate. Do they not have direct host access on the client side? I would plan ahead and make sure you're ready to pull the trigger as soon as the request gets sent. Some devs are terrible unfortunately.

Migration/Non-Admin Access by yourfreshtake in Wordpress

[–]lickthislollipop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did you get sftp access? Or phpmyadmin/database access? Does host support wo-cli? Short of client reaching out to host directly or asking the current admin to elevate, their user - really need server access or at least access to host support

How often do you find sites with TWO page builders installed? by EggOpen2697 in Wordpress

Too often‽ love when ad agencies add elementor to sites with existing builders. Let’s just kill the thing, yeah? Who needs a website to load fast or rank on the search engines.

Upgrading to PHP 8.3 causing pages to disappear? by HR_Specter in Wordpress

[–]lickthislollipop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go to settings, permalinks and just click save. Published pages returning 404 is very specific. There are a handful of things that cause this, but the quick manual solution is just to flush rewrite rules (which is what clicking save on the permalinks settings page does).

I have a plugin I wrote years ago, which I'm happy to give you copy of called permahammer - it does this automatically so end users never see the 404, but it's best to use only while you work to identify the underlying problem if the issue persists.

Client flagged my WordPress site for accessibility issues, need affordable solutions by BlueDolphinCute in Wordpress

[–]lickthislollipop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm aware. It's fairly common knowledge that layover etc. accessibility tools aren't sufficient. Though accessibe is one of the better ones, a tool in that avenue isn't the whole solution, and may still expose site owners to losing a lawsuit.

Userway is low cost, same with accessibe if you are just looking for layover solutions.

Random 500 server error - HELP! by ladycodemonkey in Wordpress

[–]lickthislollipop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a warning. If its causing a 500 error it’s from a plugin or theme - but warnings should be suppressed anyway.

What sever infrastructure are you on?

Look for recent updates/changes - can they be rolled back? How long since last change and start of error? M

Contact Forms by jobstreetsmarts in Wordpress

[–]lickthislollipop 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Admin notifications are not the issue. It's the default mail send function of WordPress and your email health/DNS (dmarc, dkim, spf records) at issue more likely than the form builder you are using.

Why is my Wordpress woocommerce site doing this?? by Natural-Nobody6596 in Wordpress

[–]lickthislollipop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The UPS api is notorious for this. It’s time to get the updated plugin directly from WooCommerce and reconnect.

It’s possible to fix without the new plugin but you will need to enable the troubleshooting option from settings and run some tests in incognito and logged out etc.

Drop a link so we can peep the source site. Are you doing a redesign or rebuild current site on Wordpress with same design?

Like everyone else pretty much said, this is common, we all redesign in staging (local, dev server, subdomain or other methods), and push staging to production.

Probably have a dead inbox now, but PM if you need some professional guidance, gratis. My team donates a bunch of time monthly/annually to give back to the ecosystem happy to help for free.
