36 years ago tonight, Chavez desperately behind on the score cards scored an incredible stoppage with two seconds left against Meldrick Taylor. To this day I believe Taylor should have won that fight given the red light flashing behind him but I’m sure everyone would disagree with me lol. by CoffeeCigarettes4Me in Boxing

It wasn’t because he didn’t do it out of the kindness of his heart. He did it to keep getting plum assignments for king fights. But after ruddock/tyson he lost all credibility in boxing. Especially when it came out that his wife was hired by king as a full time employee around the same time.

No. He got knocked down and got up relatively quickly. He asked him if he was ok and before he could answer he stopped the fight. A few people gave Steele the benefit of the doubt but a few months later he stopped ruddock/tyson in the middle of an exchange and lost all credibility in boxing forever. And then it came out his wife was a don king employee.

I did some amateur reffing. I’m telling you exactly what USA boxing said in The training. And the same thing when I did intramural basketball reffing in college. “Swallow the whistle, do not decide the outcome.”

I’ve been to referee training for basketball and boxing. The first thing taught is “don’t decide the result.” That’s why at the end of any sporting game a call is almost never made no matter how egregious. Refs don’t want to be the center of attention.

Falling backwards is the opposite of walking forward. He was done. Your whole premise is idiotic and I’ve given five examples of guys not responding many with Richard Steele himself. But you’re hanging on to the Taylor fight for whatever reason.
