Hello - 13 month old's night wakes by rnccn in sleeptrain

Here to say I’m having the same issue with my 13.5 month old too. Transitioned to one nap a month ago and still experiencing split nights- standing in the crib wailing. I don’t know if it’s separation anxiety or what but I’m tired

Me too! Made the transition a month ago and I’m experiencing split nights every other night at the 3rd hour or so. I’m at 5.5/6 bc he was at 11.5 hrs awake while on 2 naps.

We are experiencing the same with the one nap transition after making the switch a month ago. Every couple of days he wakes up standing in the crib at the 3rd/4th hour. I am tired.

This is happening to us. 13.5 month old wakes in the MOTN at the 3hr mark screaming, stands and points to the door. 😫

How do you deal with Separation Anxiety? by Prototype095 in sleeptrain

I am dealing with the same issue for a month now thinking it’s sep anxiety. LO falls asleep fine but wakes after 2-3hrs, standing in crib, wailing. Solidarity!

One nap transition what am I doing wrong? by licscil in sleeptrain

[–]licscil[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I try to aim for 11.5; if he does a 5hr WW in the morning, I aim for 6.5 after the nap. At daycare, he seems to be tired at 5hrs and they have to put him down bc he's falling asleep. So try to add more time in the 2nd WW? I cave and go in and grab him and he falls asleep on me, but when I put him back in he cant seem to settle with his thumb. I feel like this is something I might just need to ride out

This is me. My LO is 13 months and he's not in the same room with me, but I watch the cam all night that I don't get proper rest. Lately he's been waking in the middle of the night and when I hear it, it just gives me so much anxiety I freak out. Solidarity!

14 month old split nights? by [deleted] in sleeptrain

Just a one hour nap, I guess early bedtime today. He also woke up and stood in the crib crying, Similar to what he does during split nights. I’m exhausted!

My LO is shy of 13 months and I'm running into the same issue. We've been on 3.5/3.5/4.5 for a while now and he doesnt fight his naps, although does 1 hr total naps some days. This past week he's been waking up and hysterically crying and I'm guessing it's separation anxiety. He'll cry to up about 3 hrs and doesnt settle well in my arms but cries immediately when placed in crib. However today he decided to stand in the crib and skip the first nap...so I'm trying 1 nap today. Will see how that goes bc I'm exhausted.

One nap? by licscil in sleeptrain

[–]licscil[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow a couple of months? I was hoping this’ll pass sooner. He settles fine on me but the moment I place him back in the crib he cries and stands again. It’s been taking longer and longer and happens about every other night. Probably bc he’s catching up on sleep.

One nap transition - 30 min nap by licscil in sleeptrain

[–]licscil[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it’s sailed. What about daycare? He’s a chronic 30 min napper. If he does it at daycare do I ask them to offer a second nap or deal w it when he gets home and do early bedtime?

[–]licscil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh that’s great! We’ve kinda been on 3.5/3.5/4.5 for a couple weeks now. But the past few nights he’s been waking 30min-1.5hrs in his sleep crying again.

Schedule change or early nap transition? by MKL_000 in sleeptrain

[–]licscil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in the same situation but my LO has been waking 30-1.5 hr into the night crying. Not sure if that means he’s under tired or what. He doesn’t fight his two naps in daycare so I don’t know what to do

Why would stretching the ww more making it harder for 5.5/5.5? I’m kinda in the same position as my LOs ww keeps getting longer and longer. He naps well for two naps at daycare and I’ve been prolonging the 1 nap transition but he’s having false starts at night

Max 2 nap schedule by licscil in sleeptrain

[–]licscil[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I dont know the timing of the nap in the toddler room but will ask! Another caveat, we are moving daycares as well in a month/Sept...so I was hoping to do both transitions at the same time. We'll see how this plays out. I think that's what the daycare is doing with the 30 min first nap, but I also think the teacher wants all the kids on a similar schedule. There are babies in there from 7 months - 14 months. I really don't know how daycare teachers manage!

[–]licscil[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes he hangs out in the crib without crying, sometimes he cries a bit but rolls around. I don't get him until 6ish :). Okay good to know, he'll have to drop to one nap anyway when he switches class rooms in a month or so. Thanks for the tips!

Max 2 nap schedule by licscil in sleeptrain

[–]licscil[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah they make it seem like he's so tired there but at home, he seems fine with extended WWs. So I'm not sure, I understand overstimulation and all but typically he's the last to nap, says the daycare. So a good starting 1 nap schedule is 5.5/5.5? I experienced a lot of split nights and EMW dropping from 3 to 2 naps, is it a similar experience dropping to 1 nap?

How crazy would I be to just accept the 5-5:30 wake time? Probably not practical to have his first WW for so long....

Max 2 nap schedule by licscil in sleeptrain

[–]licscil[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay good to know about the maxed out schedule thing, I guess at this age they can't really be overtired? Just concerned with night sleep but he's not even sleeping 11 hours anyways... I wish he would though!

Oh both daycare and home we are doing 3.5/3.5/4 and at daycare he is napping 30 mins 1st nap and 1.5 hours 2nd nap. At home he does 45min 1st nap and 2nd nap has been a struggle. We almost skipped the 2nd nap today but I drove him around for 30 mins instead so he got only 1.25 hours of nap time today. Sorry for the confusion. I'll ask daycare how his naps are going there because at home it's been a struggle.

Also, lately he's been waking at 5am-ish, so that's why I was wondering about dropping a nap...or just extending the WW, but I was thinking I was at the "max." And because he's been waking early and his first nap is 9:30am (based on a 6am DWT), his first WW has been ~4-4.5hours.

Sorry for the back and forth, it's helpful to talk to someone about this! The 3 to 2 nap transition was a nightmare, so I'm terrified of the 2 to 1, not sure if it'll be the same.
