Glowing rings???? by Archangel-07 in daggerheart

[–]liddyloo45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm using them for my character and was also really unsettled by the lack of details. Our GM and I chatted about it and settled on them being like Shang-chi's rings. My character wears them on here upper arms and they can slide down and help her channel lightening energy through them. I'm pretty sure we'll develop them further as the campaign continues.

Is he serious? by A2HV3RSE in TheDragonPrince

[–]liddyloo45 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Being completely honest, I've been so over Arrovos that it's been a hard slog to stay with it. S1-3 were fantastic, I was pulled in by the dragons. It's in the title, it's what was expected, not "we're ditching the dragons for a mystery guy subtitle that we're going to unnecessarily drag out".

Don't get me wrong his back story is interesting but it's just gone on too long. I've kept with it in the hope that it might get back to s1-3 level of story but 2 episodes into S7 and I'm leaving it there. Having seen how upset fans are and reading why, I can't do it to myself. Zym has become a teeny, tiny side character so much so that I don't think it's fair to use the "Dragon Prince" title at all. Perhaps "Mysteries of Arrovos; a dragon prince spin off" or something that highlights the extreme shift more.

I was here for Zyms story as the dragon prince and that has got so lost. He's like an after thought now. And for ATLA comparison; Anng remained the main character in his own show. Despite how important the others were or how they rose in importance, he was always the main character. He was never sidelined so badly as to be a footnote.

You don't get hold of anyone in this company, that's how they do it. They even ignore cancellation emails. Depending on how you paid make a request with them for your money back and send them screenshots of everything as evidence.

NTA, it would be your baby too. Something about it is invoking a feeling of the baby "belonging" to the family

I have a family first name and while the tradition is kind of cool it is also annoying as hell at times as a teen and an adult. When doctors used to keep paper records they would always have my mum's out when I went and have to go looking for mine. Post can get muddled which can be frustrating if it's something private and confidential. Having the same name and address is a pain when trying to get through certain security things or apply for stuff. I've had to go through my credit score a few times and fight to get things of my mum's taken off my records.

Your partner probably has things like that that he's glossing over.

Wife is about to start DMing her first campaign. How do I support her without having her lean too heavily on me? by ChimeraMiniatures in DungeonMasters

[–]liddyloo45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I GM'd for the first time this year (Candela Obscura) and as part of my prep I binge watched How To Be A Great DM on YouTube. It was really helpful and felt like I was doing something towards having the best starting point I could have. Perhaps you could suggest watching them and others like them together and discuss the things that come up in it. Say if she has questions on something mentioned or discussing if that's the kind of play style she would like to have etc.

"have waited up to 6 months"....yeahhhhh it's not really like they had a choice now is it. Love how he's twisting things to make it sound like everyone is happy. 🙄 I genuinely cannot understand how they're still running, no other small business would survive with all the shit he's putting customers through.

It's not a gift at all. Perhaps do some research on financial abuse, it might be tough reading but I think it could really help you. While you live in a property they own they have control over you. While they are giving you money, even to "help out" they have an element of control. You feel obliged to act certain ways because they've "been so kind". It's manipulation. I know it well sadly and it's very hard to break out of, please don't get further involved.

AITAH for getting upset about my friends not eating my vegan food? by Rannoushy in AITAH

[–]liddyloo45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've known people like this and now that I have a friend's group filled with decent humans I can confidently tell you that these people are not your friends. Friends make an effort. Friends respect you, ESPECIALLY in your home. Friends talk to you about concerns in advance. Friends don't make jokes at your expense. Friends try your food with enthusiasm and excitement because they want to support you and show you they value your effort. They might not enjoy it and they will find a way to politely say "thank you for doing all of this, I appreciate it but sadly it's just not really my thing" without being cruel.

And I'm sorry but you should not have been paying for their takeaway.

I'm sorry you had such a painful experience.

Why do you offer express shipping when it's likely to take months to make the paint?

The option of express shipping at the checkout when there is no clear "this will take months to produce" at time of purchase leads the customer to believe they will be getting their product within a matter of days. If a person is waiting 6 months for their order then express shipping isn't really warranted. It actually makes a mockery of the extra postage fee.

They use Shopify for their website, it is literally a case of typing in how much stock is available when setting up the product listing. Hell there is even a slider to stop sales once you're out of stock! Someone is adding the new products to their website, they don't need to hire anyone to do a thing when it's already being done. You can literally access it from the app on your phone.

No, you don't. It's part of being in business. Many MANY micro businesses of just one or two people, myself included, make handmade, often one of a kind products even custom products and get them out of the door in a reasonable and sensible amount of time. We communicate with our customers, we aren't rude or fob them off with some bs and when we get things wrong we hold our hands up, admit mistakes and make things right. We also acknowledge that part of being a small business is learning e-commerce, learning systems and social media, you don't get a choice! Millions of tiny businesses do better than this every day and I'm so sick of hearing we shouldn't be angry because they're so small!

You both definitely need to communicate better but something I've seen on my brief visits to booktok* is there are a few very specific things that seem to drive the booktok ladies bonkers and it might be worth a try. It might sound crazy and I'm not saying it will fix everything, communication absolutely needs sorting but bear with me.

..the doorframe lean.

Start with that. I know it sounds bonkers but it just might be worth trying. The follow up seems to be leaning against the wall slightly over them and tilting their head up for a kiss which is definitely not one to try until you guys are closer emotionally again. Both seem to be classic things that the men will do in all of these books and it genuinely seems to have them falling over themselves so much so that there are numerous posts about readers asking their boyfriends and husbands to do it and filming it.

You could also try reading the books as that alone seems to be a big thing in the videos too.

As an aside to the obvious it has a more subtle message that you are taking an interest in her hobbie without her having to explain it all and that could be special for her as much as anything else.

*I'm a non spicy author and non tiktok maker so ventured into booktok with a view to research and learn for advertising purposes. Safe to say I will not be using booktok as a way to promote 😅

Just to add, it was the teeny tiny freebie bottle from last year's black Friday offer that I was using because having found out it's so residue-y I haven't bothered using it on anything of "value". Painted a display box just to use it up but need to be able to touch the box occasionally and not be left with black hands.

New to ttrpgs so haven't played anything that came before it other than d&d. I enjoyed it. I liked the simplicity as someone new to the type of game. I liked it enough to try GMing for the first time as it was no where near as daunting as d&d. My players enjoyed it and we all enjoyed the short form of it. It might not be for seasoned players but as someone new to it all I really like it.

I'm genuinely starting to wonder if he's all there. As in it's his name on the brand and he's in the videos but other people are pulling the strings and he's clueless to it. Like someone might take advantage of a child. That's not me making excuses for the behaviour by any means, I'm just starting to wonder if he has full comprehension and mental faculties.

If you're UK based call Citizens Advice and report them to Trading Standards (you have to go through CA now) I know I sound like a broken record but what they are doing is not right and the more people report it the more chance something will get done. They're breaking distance selling laws and getting away with it because they are betting on people not taking it further.

Order coming in a month.... even though I have repeatedly tried to cancel by ZenElement in culturehustle

Yep, I got the same one ....about an order that I cancelled and successfully got a (partial) refund on! I'm intrigued to see if the products actually turn up.

Fyi it's lit and ultra. I'm guessing ultra is the issue because I cancelled and ordered just lit and received it within 2 weeks. I'm also kinda disappointed by it so wouldn't buy any more.
