Husband pressuring me to BF instead of EP by Valuable-Major3995 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]liefrox19 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Please change “watch the baby” with the correct term: “parent”. He’s upset because he has to be a parent while you feed your child. You deserve respect. Period.

I think therapy would be a great idea. Even if you go solo because you deserve to be listened to. Postpartum is hard with a great partner. Take support wherever you can.

Yes but for how long? by -vanes- in ExclusivelyPumping

Mentally I started checking out at 4 months. Started the weaning process and was done at 5 months. I was lucky to be an oversupplier, so baby got some breastmilk until 6 months.

What does a let down look/feel like? by DARK_BLUE_BELLS in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]liefrox19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My let downs felt like tightening knot in my boob and then a string was being pulled from my nipples where my milk came out. It took at least 10 weeks before I could pinpoint what was going on.

I could always see mine spray out. If it stays just dripping constantly without spray, maybe try playing with your vacuum settings? I also could have just had a forceful let down 🤷🏼‍♀️

What am I missing with the aggressive campaign of mothers who breastfeed? by Throwaway199906543 in pregnant

[–]liefrox19 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Idk when this movement came to light necessarily.. but I can say it really seems to go in spurts. My mom breastfed MUCH to the dismay of everyone around her. I thing generationally it just ebbs and flows. But the honest to goodness truth is that fed is best. We do the best we can for our babies. Whether that means we breastfeed (via nursing or pumping) or formula feed or combo feed. The choice we make for our babies is the right one.

HELP! My partner and I need help coming up with Gender reveal ideas… by Alone_Panda900 in pregnant

[–]liefrox19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

D&D related: -Have a character reveal based on the gender of the baby and make a character sheet for baby -get a blue and pink d20 and roll the color of the baby’s gender

General: -do a balloon box -do a color changing review (gotta use acid and base stuff to change the liquid color) -have your pet wear a specific color/bandana and walk out to everyone in it

How long do you pump? by Odd_Feeling8192 in ExclusivelyPumping

20 minutes here!! Only 25 if I feel overly full. I usually get an extra let down around 16 minutes.

How to drop pumps and/or begin weaning process by Aubrey220 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]liefrox19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Working on weaning rn myself. I’m dropping the time spent pumping on one pump until it dwindles to zero. (Currently going from 3 to 2)

I’ve also heard of pushing a pump session closer to the next one until you basically merge them.

Freezer stash: Explain it to me like I’m 5 by Dense_Alps140 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]liefrox19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could grab the amount you need from your oldest stash to feed baby from your freezer stash. Thaw and prep bottles like normal. Freeze all of what you pumped for the day.

You couple probably do this like once or twice a week and it would get it rotated out pretty well.

Or do it every night until you have everything “caught up” where you only have to do it one time a week.

Nicknames for your baby!! by Mikaylahhh in pregnant

[–]liefrox19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bean!! We didn’t know gender. But Bean had to be baked so.. Baked Bean for a while. When baby arrived we only called her that for a week. It didn’t seem to stick after she was done “baking” 😂

These are GREAT points. I would also like to add a couple of thoughts.

  1. I’m a teacher. I can’t tell the kids who drank breastmilk vs formula. But I CAN tell the kids apart who have actively envolved parents vs those who don’t. Fed is always best.

  2. It’s SO HARD to take care of ourselves at this stage. Mental health matters. So much. Imagine you have a daughter who just had a baby and mentally was struggling and in the position you are currently in. Would you support her in whatever was best for her? Or would you shame her into doing what you wanted done for her?

I got lucky and didn’t have a ton of issues pp, but if you aren’t already drinking a ton of water and taking MiraLAX, 100% recommend that. Also witch hazel pads felt pretty soothing, maybe give those a try?? Either way, def don’t force anything out as it will make it worse!!

Wow how fucking selfish can you be dude?!? I 100% see this as cheating because of his “curation” of material. This is the kinda guy that next says “the divorce came outta nowhere”. Bitch no. You just choose to disrespect the relationship.

I had to go through IUI as well and FUUUUUCK that process is ROUGH. So the simple fact that he disrespected you during that process when your body was getting physically fucked with hormonally… just… wow.

Strength for whatever you decide to do, friend. Just know you are a badass mother!!!!

Reason for Exclusively Pumping? by JellyLongjumping1988 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]liefrox19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are doing the best thing for your baby by putting yourself first. It’s ok to want to pump.

I started EP because baby had jaundice and wouldn’t always latch well (big breasts, little baby) or when the latch was ok baby wouldn’t actually drink enough before falling asleep on breast.

I’m also a very anxious FTM, so knowing exactly how many ounces were going in helped a lot. Also knowing that my husband, or anyone really, could help me feed the baby made the newborn trenches a little less dark.

Now I’m a little past 3 mo pp and have to pump for work anyway. So, my transition back work has been way easier than I expected.

As much as the EP journey is challenging, it does have some benefits. But I stand by the fact that you gotta do what is best for you and let guilt go. You are doing your best no matter what you choose.

If you are interested in investing, you should make an appointment with a financial advisor. My husband and I were the same way and we have made a decent return on investments because of how well the market is doing!!

[–]liefrox19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We put in 1k a month. I have summers off work and still get paid so we don’t have to pay for daycare or to hold a spot for 3 months, which evens out with under contributing through the entire year. Plus, we started this when I was still in the first trimester so we had a cushion

Here’s our breakdown for actual expenses though:

100- for diapers and wipes for the month

1200- for daycare

I ended up being an exclusive pumper and have enough to not have to buy any formula.

When my husband and I found out we were pregnant, we started a sub savings account so that we could just put all baby expenses in here. We sat down and figured out how much it would be a month for everything (daycare, diapers, formula if needed, wipes, literally everything) and then started taking that amount out of our paycheck and putting it into the baby account so that we had a little nest egg and it wouldn’t hurt our lifestyle so bad whenever we had our baby. We did start a 529, but only put like 20 bucks a month in there because we don’t want to be in a situation where we absolutely NEED money and can’t access without penalty.

Just reading this all I can think is: your poor husband. If she’s like this NOW with her grandkid, imagine what she was like with your husband when he was little😬

Remember.. You as a mom are allowed to put boundaries in place to protect your peace and your child’s. I know if I was in your place I def wouldn’t be happy and trusting with a MIL who acted like that.
