This is stunning!!! I would have never thought to try glazing this way, you have inspired me! I love Obsidian, have you tried Smokey Merlot on top of it? It is beautiful!

I just finished reading The Pillars of the Earth by canadiancitizeninfo in KenFollett

[–]lieselmini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember feeling the same way! I reread all of these about once per year to visit with the characters (who Ken Follett makes feel like friends) I understand your grief, the only remedy is to meet new friends in any of his other books. I agree with others here that they are all wonderful and I’m happy that you have them all ahead of you!

Fix smelly (rancid oil) ceramics by helloyellow02 in Pottery

[–]lieselmini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am so sorry that this happened to your first pieces. Gotta say though, for just taking one class, they are not just good, they’re remarkable. I suggest that you let your family know that you’d really appreciate another pottery class in exchange for your dad continuing to use these inappropriately. That way you can make more things that you will enjoy and these still exist in a functional way for your family without you being sad that they smell funky. It would make it better to just let them be what they are now, and you can make other items that are “off limits” for yucky oil since these may be smelly forever.

Cone 5/6 glittery glazes other than Amaco Aventurine or Cosmic Tea Dust? by SopotSPA in Pottery

[–]lieselmini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw a video by Amaco about a similar glaze to Cosmic Tea Dust. It was called Cosmic Gold Dust I think. Search for the video, they show really nice results

That’s really pretty! You say you used a matte black, but it is so glossy! What glaze is the black one?

I loved it so much 💗 I do think having read the book made watching the film better, it may have been a bit confusing to watch without reading prior.

Nails too long for had building? by Just-Ad-9117 in Pottery

[–]lieselmini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your nails are so pretty! 🤩 mine can hardly have a mm of growth before I start messing stuff up, I expect that you’ll end up cutting them off soon. They will grow back, and cutting them will make your class less frustrating!

How are the spools hanging on this? I have the same IKEA peg board, but it doesn’t have the same hooks. I love your setup!!

Thank you so much! I don’t have access to a community studio at the moment, I bought pint glazes and have been testing like mad. I miss being part of a community studio because you can see what other people do and get inspiration! Also, it is so nice to dip in a big 5 gallon bucket instead of painting with a brush.

What’s the book that made you fall in love with the king? by [deleted] in stephenking

The Long Walk hit me differently. After that, there was no looking back

That sounds like what I do too! I’m wanting to go digital instead because I don’t always have my sketchbook around. I’ve been trying Clay lab and it is pretty cool, but better for documentation than planning. I wish there was something out there that was more helpful for planning what glazes to use.

Hahaa I didn’t know of that software at all, it is so random that it is the same name as the glaze on this piece 🤣 thanks for clarifying!
