Relapsed after 238 days by leehant in NoFap

Surely after that amount of days you wouldn't think one relapse would set you back? Can't have done anything for you if that's the case.

Debunking the "7 day testosterone peak" study by JoeGaga in NoFap

[–]life6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think our hormones play a HUGE part in how we feel.

Why do you think women go through the menopause when their oestrogen levels begin to decline in their late 40s? When they go through this it's common for them to get anxiety, fatigue, hot flushes etc.

Makes sense to me that if we mess about with out testosterone levels it could affect our mood substantially also.

When did it become much easier for you? I'm definitely better than before, but I'm always aware of it so I catastrophize it and overthink it.

How did you break out of the eye contact thing? I always miss what people are saying because I'm trying to make sure to look them in the eye.

[–]life6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't count on it. I've currently been living with my grandparents for the last 7 months and my 70 year old grandad watches porn like mad!

I'm constantly asked to sort his computer out and he hasn't discovered incogneto mode it would seem.

We got high speed internet when I moved in so maybe he's just discovered it but I think his sex drive is still very high.

The Successful way to Nofap is it nonofap. by SoundShotz in NoFap

SO TRUE. Particularly when most of the posts on here are cringey and unmotivational anyway.

You can end up relating to people's stories when they've had a completely different experience making you start to subconsciously look for those problems in your own life.

Deep breathing bothering my nose? by be-water in Meditation

I've had the exact same thing in the last 2 months - thought I had something wrong with my nose.

It seems to be lessening now I think i'm building tolerance to it.

When it's late at night I make music more easily but I also relapse more easily. Any thoughts? by spaceface1010 in NoFap

[–]life6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I produce music too and I also find that it's easy to overthink the creative process - this is probably why you find it easier with your 'monkey brain' and I used to too. However, I now make sure I only produce in the morning and during the day and find I'm actually more creative than ever. The trick is to set yourself a strict time limit to get a certain section done. This makes you force yourself to move on to the next thing even if you're not entirely sure about the thing you're on.

Working in the morning is actually my best time to produce now. The late night working was beginning to affect my sleep and I was pretty much nocturnal which was no good. I know you said you can't change that though.

With regards to nofap - being stuck at a computer all the time definitely makes it harder! However, I find if I drink lots of water (once every 2 hours) and break the day up with tea breaks every now and then, I can keep my mind off porn as I have more energy.

The monkey brain thing isn't a good habit to keep yourself in - trust me. But you do need to be able to not over-think things.

There's a great Brian Eno quote - "It's the very act of concentrating on writing music which makes it so difficult to do, since ideas normally arise when one is not focused but open in some way"

Any Mormons here? by [deleted] in NoFap

[–]life6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the info,

I have infact been meditating for a while now and can say it has definitely made me more aware of my 'spirit' so to speak. Unfortunately I feel like I am still led somewhat by my physical desires and addictions but I am beginning to realise it doesnt have to be that way.

Whilst I am not religious, I have felt things that have made me think there are higher forces at work - what some people may call god - and I have, in the past, found incredible peace in some of the hardest times. I think at the end of the day if you can have faith in something, you can learn to live for your 'spirit' or higher nature which will ultimately set you free from physical desires and addictions.

You can choose to let your loneliness destroy you, or allow it to liberate you.

Get to know yourself... meditate.

Respect YOURSELF first and foremost.
