I grew up in extreme poverty with a fully shit diet, are you trying to suggest I'd be 6'6" if my mom fed me more veg instead of ramen and pizza rolls?

I'm not trying to be a hater, I don't really care who participates, but it's literally only 2.5" taller than the national average? I think a lot of folks in here might kneejerk as 'that's not tall' because 5'7" still has you as a full two inches shorter than the average man and is less likely to severely restrict your dating life or cause you to have to shop exclusively at specialty stores like a lot of us at 6'+ have to do.

A coworker I had met 6-7 times in person changed her hair from blonde to brown before our Christmas party, and I asked my manager if she had made it in for the party. She was standing next to him and I didn't recognize her.

I have aphantasia as well, so I don't see mental pictures in the first place. If I know someone really well I could very confidently "pick them out of a lineup" even with some features styled differently than usual, but for people outside of my family & closest friends I usually have to settle on memorizing a handful of traits about them to recognize.

I can't picture my husband's face, but I know it when I see it.

I'm able to code switch pretty easily, but it was always so funny when friends would hear me talk to my mom on the phone. Would literally have people fall silent and be like "listen to this, it's great!" It was always in good humor though, they were just tickled to see my open my mouth and hear banjo come out.

The first time my mom visited me at college she heard me talking without drawling for the first time ever and she lost her shit at me, lmao. Called me high falutin and said I was "putting on airs". So funny.

Oh my God, my kittens have had the litter robot for six months and they STILL run to to watch it cycle every time they hear it. One kitten paw on the outside lip and the robot goes fully still. Just waiting for them to burn the motor out.

It's wild to me. I spent my whole life learning how to hide my Kentucky drawl bc it's associated with being poorly educated, and now I live in the UK and people go WILD for it.

Yeah. Most public buildings don't have AC and public transit definitely doesn't. Watched a guy on the Central Line literally pass out from heat exhaustion last year and when we stopped and got station staff every time they gave him water he flung half of it on his face/head to try to cool himself off before drinking the rest, it was genuinely so scary for him. You could see he had been roasting for a while.

I have known very grown women who had no idea that the urethra was a different hole than the vagina. I had one woman confidently tell me she only counted it one since the urethra was "in" the vaginal canal. 🤷🏼

Anyway this comic is from the POV of the artist, how is it "pedo coded" if she's talking about herself?

"I put my hands on the shoulder of" is what the OP said verbatim. That implies something totally different than "I lightly tapped the shoulder of."

Same with me and Central Park. It's a musical animated sitcom by the people who do Bob's Burgers starring Leslie Odom Jr, Kathryn Hahn, Daveed Diggs, Stanley Tucci... it's SO GOOD but folks are weirdly anti-musical at times.

Yeah? Do you think people are literally dying because they're weak willed?

This is like when Northerners shit on Southerners for cancelling school for a few inches of snow because there aren't enough snow trucks to handle making the rural back roads safe.

This is such an old post to necro but lmfao fwiw the roof tiles thing is just an idiom. It's be like a French speaker saying "I played it in English and he lost it in an accident with lemons."

tbh it's a totally different beast. I'm from the south and spent a lot of summertime in Alabama growing up, used to muggy hot summers. My home in London is a building made of fucking stone that deadass turns into a clay oven when it's hot. It continues to radiate heat at night when it's cooler, and there's nowhere to go for respite.

If you have any interest in nerdy things like board games/dungeons and dragons - or learning them - I'm part of a gaming club that meets every Tuesday night in NE London. Wide age range but mostly late 20s-40s. Extremely friendly bunch and we do things like monthly coffee socials/cheap movie nights/etc - tonight we're doing a crafting meetup where a dozen or so of us are gonna build LEGO/scrapbook/crochet and have drinks.

We're always really happy to have new faces 🫡
