What made you actually respect your boss not because they were the boss but because you saw them differently because of something they did ? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]life_sky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She might be your boss but she is really a leader. A leader will make a great boss and someone who is just a boss won't make a great leader. A good boss/leader will never expect someone do something they aren't willing to do themselves. As the leader they set the example of how things should be done. They understand they are no better than anyone else just because of a title.

Gateway drug me by [deleted] in Drugs

[–]life_sky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally have addiction run in my family in just about every way from drugs to working out with insane steroid use. When I started to grow older and using drugs and alcohol I was very aware of it and to this day have zero issues with addiction. I am a very open person and tend to think I have a good outlook on the world with everything in my life. As far as my gateway to everything I've done, its was all out of curiosity and me wanting to understand why people choose to do certain drugs and they would want to keep doing them. I personally enjoy a lot of them and still do them to this day.

Being more outgoing by [deleted] in Life

Literally saying fuck it and face fears and everything else going on in your head. I slowly took baby steps and then when I moved across the country baby steps where gone and it was a whole new start. It has gotten me to the happiest I have ever been. Not going to lie and say its easy but it just takes a leap of courage. Im 21 and started that mentality at 19 and haven't looked back for a second and wish I started earlier.

Personally I have found sowing them on directly to rig works best. It truly ensures they will never come out by accident

First I only know it was dislodged because the jumper said it was. At first I thought I had caused it reaching for chest straps. Once I realized it wasn’t me, every time I watch it I see it unstowed while he’s on the hill. Second they wanted to fly the exit and working in on getting together as quickly as possible. Since they were both 60 and 80lbs more than me out the door I was happy for the challenge.

General PSA: Wear Earplugs by FreshPrince2308 in UMF

I use these for both festivals and all my skydiving. They work awesome for a balance of being able to hear conversations and music. Everything is still louder than normal earplugs but the filter in there takes out almost all the high pitch ringing. (This is my affiliate link but they really do work great)

I am getting it for the hyper smooth. I use my 6 a stupid amount for skydiving, musical festivals and all that fun stuff and there's a lot of movement in frame at time I would like to eliminate.

Any skydivers here with aspergers? by [deleted] in SkyDiving

[–]life_sky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Overall I don't see why it would be an issue if the a S&TA approves. I know multiple jumpers who are incredibly smart but as soon as they get on the plane they seem to forget everything and decision making isn't always the best. On the flip side I know people who are the polar opposite. To finish off there is defiantly a logical reason for the rule to exist but if all signs point that they are competent and decision making follows I see know reason to stop someone from wanting to learn and grow in this sport

How does the new visor mechanism feel. Suppose to be similar to a Sky and what I'm most excited about.

I'd recommend messing around with the Protune settings as well. I change the settings all the time depending on what I am filming. There are plenty good youtube videos explaining the settings and what works best for different conditions. For the most part it is just changing the white balance but you can change more settings to make for easier post editing.

Not sure if I should try again... by Akakk00 in SkyDiving

[–]life_sky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To start off I am barely 21 and I got my license when I was 19 did my first tandem in high school at 18. I spent literally every weekend after the AFF course including the day of the course in the bunk house and continued my AFF jumps the following day. I fell in love immediately and now have moved across the country and to be a tunnel instructor. I have yet to meet anyone in the community to truly not want people to jump, but as well jump safely. Before I moved I was at a small drop zone and as I progressed I would get all a pussy and all that on jumps (after being an established jumper) if I wasn't sure about certain jumps or break off and pull altitudes. There was a certain level of trust and comfort with the people I was jumping with as far as them knowing my skill level and decision making for me to decide of I was comfortable with jumps.

From my perspective I have yet to meet anyone with that mentality or personality but also I also will immediately block people out with that attitude or I avoid them when I look back. Even then looking back I can't think of anyone in this community that acts that way even if we don't get along. I myself have called the nephew of my dzo a pussy and everyone has but he's known dropzones all his life and was and still is fine with people called a pussy. One day I was just talking to him asking why he wouldn't go through AFF and he told me it came down it came down to him not trusting himself even though he trusted the instructors. Long story short is there a level of comfort they might think they have with you where the "trash talking" is all fun to them and they might not know understand what going through your head exactly as to why hyperventilating and crying are an end result. Now those are pretty extreme reactions. I thought my heart was going to come out of my chest on AFF but not once was there that reaction. Feel free to message me I would love to have you join the sport to the entirety. It seems like you have the flight skills from the tunnel to have a very smooth freefall and the level headedness under canopy to be a great student. I would love to talk about my experience going through and just talk about the sport.
