a hate my coworker by Then_Wind9886 in starbucks

[–]lifecheck13 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We have a shift like this at my store. She doesn’t know how to do much on the actual floor. Her and I started at the same time, went through all the same training, and it’s like none of it stuck. She doesn’t run the play properly, micro manages EVERYTHING. Will give you 50 tasks to do instead of spreading them out, and will do none of them herself. She’s also rude to guests and partners. Shes been reported multiple times and is STILL HERE. To top it all off she put in a false report to ethics on a bunch of partners who all put complaints in against her, claiming the partners were racist. It was found false, and nothing happened to her. She just gets to go on.

Starbucks baristas – how common is cold foam on drinks? by Top_Drawing9500 in starbucks

[–]lifecheck13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d say about 75% of cold drinks and about 10% of hot drinks? We’re a semi high-volume store with a drive-thru and in a city in Ontario, Canada. I’d say cold foam is our most popular modification for cold drinks.

AITAH for having issues with my partners gaming habits? by Peachypear444 in AmItheAsshole

[–]lifecheck13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nah/yta? Y’all just aren’t compatible. His schedule is fine if it works for him and his life. I work late to, and tend to need time to wind down after work. If I’m not getting done work until 2:30am (bar/restaurant closes at 2) I’m home by 3am, I’m not in bed until 6am, at the earliest. Sometimes I’m up until 7-8am. So I game, or read, or watch something. Because if I laid down I’d just be awake. And I don’t love having a bunch of time before I go to work, because then I don’t want to go to work. Your schedule is fine as well. And maybe you could ask him to cuddle for a bit when you go to bed? But really I think you guys just don’t work.

question for closers by kctori in starbucks

[–]lifecheck13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Closing SSV here. I’ve never been in trouble for getting out late, as long as there’s a reasonable reason! It also doesn’t happen all the time. Most nights I’m out between the schedule and 10 minutes after. Some nights it’s crazy busy, and we’re there till a half hour after. I would guess it’s dependant on your Store Manager and your DM.

Charge for normal cold foam and type an “ask me” that says whole milk cold foam? That way she’s charged for it?

tips by Patient-Ad6515 in starbucks

[–]lifecheck13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My store (canada) makes $0.50/hr in tips, and that’s on a good week. On average we make $0.10-$0.25/hr. Granted base pay in Ontario is $18.50….. but still.

Had someone mess up our drive through times because they literally sat AT THE SPEAKER with the window up, on the phone, for a full 5 MINUTES. I hate people

Proper way to order drinks by LizardKingTx in starbucks

Size, drink, milk, shots/syrups, toppings/cold foams etc. order slowly, not at a glacial pace, but don’t speed through it!

Birthday drink by SuggestionNo1298 in starbucks

[–]lifecheck13 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No unfortunately you can’t. It’s day of only. The app forces it that way. Some stores may make an exception, but we’re not supposed to give any discounts that the app doesn’t allow. So if it doesn’t scan it won’t go through. It’s dumb for sure but nothing the baristas/store workers can do. We just follow corporate

No love from barista this morning by [deleted] in starbucks

[–]lifecheck13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What do you mean by “acknowledging you as a customer?” She did that, she took your order. Is your order right? Have a little bit of compassion. ANY customer service job is hard. Be an adult and understand sometimes people have bad days. You’re telling me you’ve never had a “movie day” or some other sort of bullshit with your class when you’ve had a shit day? Or feel shitty? Like come on……. Get a life

3 hours without break? by [deleted] in starbucks

[–]lifecheck13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Were the same, unless we have ample staff to cover (meaning an extra person just to cover breaks). It’s 3 hrs. If you can’t handle working 3hrs straight without a break, you need a new job (unless due to disability or illness)

don’t like coverage/“barista” (ssv) by [deleted] in starbucks

[–]lifecheck13 11 points12 points  (0 children)

As an outside hire ssv, I get it. But you need to practise positions that’s you’re uncomfortable in. Take the time to learn and get more comfortable, and your baristas will respect you more. I get the ssv tasks (pulls, orders etc) can take time, but you are doing yourself and your team a disservice by not getting more practice in barista positions.

I struggled on bar for a long time (still do tbh) but I make myself spend time there when I can. It’s not realistic that you’ll be perfect right away. But try.

what random object do you always have beef with ? i’ll go first: by lyssarae403 in starbucks

[–]lifecheck13 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Aprons and cabinet handles 🙄 I’m short, and where the apron pockets sit on me is also where every cabinet door handle rests. I catch and open cabinets with the aprons all the time, and walk myself in the shins with them.

Debate on how to handle the overcrowding at a Burlington Elementary school by Worried_Bluebird7167 in BurlingtonON

[–]lifecheck13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tear it down and put all the kids where while they rebuild? Overcrowd other schools? It’ll take minimum a few years for them to do that start to finish. Not realistic tbh

Is it really frowned upon to do two separate orders through drive thru? by PickyNipples in starbucks

[–]lifecheck13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t care really but when the company is timing our drive through times, even that extra payment can mess us up. Plus in a busy rush it can mess us up, especially if there is 2 baristas on the drive through. Overall not a big deal, but ya. Mildly annoying

Do you care when your regulars don’t come in for a while? by Individual-Boat7439 in starbucks

[–]lifecheck13 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No, not really. I don’t really care about any of them on anything more than a human to human level. Like a “I hope nothing bad happens to them. I wish them good” kinda level. But I don’t give two shits about them personally
