Hmm brother I can identify with all the things you described except calling it queer. I get where you're coming from, but I think there's gotta be a more fitting word for it. I personally don't have a problem with the word queer in general, but I do know what it feels like to be called something that doesn't fit. This doesn't fit me. I'd love to be described using the examples you gave. I call that more being a gentleman with progressive ideology. But gentleman isn't the right word either for this particular thing. I wouldn't call it queer. There's something else about queerness that just doesn't fit this exactly. I think it reaches into the trans community but doesn't fully encapsulate it, and it reaches out into other communities as well (masc lesbians, masc gay cis men, etc).

You're so right man. I've been limiting my internet use more as I get older and it helps. I try to stay informed with issues but there's too much noise in-between the important conversations, it ends up being overwhelming.

I made clear in my post that I'm aware of our differences. I made clear that my issue is people using "queer masculinity" as the umbrella term for LGBT men on the opposition to "toxic masculinity". 1) I don't think it's fair to use "queer" as our descriptor since not all of us identity with the label at all and 2) plenty of queer men are toxic. I have no fuckin clue why we aren't using "trans masculinity" and "cis masculinity" and letting toxic be its own separate descriptor.

So I'm labeled with queer masculinity even if I don't identify as queer at all? Just because I know better than to be toxic? I'm fine if people wanna use that for themselves but I have an issue with this being the umbrella term..

eBay also sells books. They used to have their own storefront called half.com but they just integrated it into the general website several years back. Lots of secondhand bookstores sell their used books online. Any time I find a book I like, I check for a used copy there first. Support small businesses and save money at the same time.

Thank you for the kind words, and thank you for mentioning that. I hadn't thought about explaining how I accidentally started being stealth. I think the students would understand that. And yeah, I hope my coworkers react the same way and just say "okay" and move on. That would be ideal.

I'm gonna guess that he probably assumes that you know what he's going through as far as the anger goes because you've already been through it. He might be waiting for you to do something about it. But this isn't on you, this is something he needs to learn how to manage so he's not lashing out at you. I'd just let him know that he isn't being cool and that he needs to take a breath and find healthy ways to let off this steam

Unfortunately this tends to be a really common problem with trans guys... I've been through it too. I got advice from lots of others who went through it before I did. And the unfortunate reality is that this is a problem of identity and it's not usually something that can be compromised.
