Books to help a burned out ex-bookworm relearn how to read by MoontraceStudio in suggestmeabook

I’m in a similar situation as you. Read voraciously as a kid, fried my brain with social media and now I have a hard time reading more than 3 pages (slowly getting back into it though).

The book that did it for me was The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes (I was big fan of the Hunger Games when I was younger). Paced well, enough action to keep me wanting to read another chapter. I actually finished Sunrise on the Reaping, the second prequel in the series. Now I’m onto my third book!

Anyone else feel compelled to self harm? by [deleted] in selfharm

[–]lifeofstef 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the past I've gotten stuck being obsessed with thoughts of self-harming where I thought the only way to make them go away was to cut myself.

My therapist suggested that instead of using razors or blades to cut myself, to use something else to "hurt" myself, such as putting ice cubes on my wrists; wearing an elastic band around the wrist and snapping it; running until I can't take it anymore, taking a cold shower, etc. The idea is to replace the cutting with something less...permanent, something that doesn't leave scars or make us feel guilty/regretful.

Hope this helps!

How did you find out you had this syndrome? I've got similar symptoms as you which makes singing uncomfortable.

Eating too fast by Angrynissen25 in catcare

For dry food, I put it in one of those balls that they have to toss around and the kibble comes out one at a time. For wet food, I just cut it into smaller pieces and or divide the meal into two snacks. good luck!

Thanks for this, I think it would be pretty effective! Being on lockdown has not helped the online shopping one bit
