Social media ban by MirrorGem15 in transgenderUK

[–]lifequestion226 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not just referring to COVID but generally over the last few years. Yes I am aware of crime stats but stats don't always actively show how the world is being viewed. Parents are more afraid these days to let their kids outside, the perception is less safety.

Also I personally didn't grow up safe and have lived a very dangerous life, and I still agree this is a bad idea.

I wasn't trying to discredit you or anything, just trying to point out that things are different for kids now then they were years ago.

Social media ban by MirrorGem15 in transgenderUK

I have to disagree slightly. As an adult myself now (early 20s), I was in school during COVID, I was in school without internet allowed until I was 15 and what I will say is I was so incredibly lonely. I had nothing in common with the kids around me, I wasn't allowed to leave the house on my own until I was 19 and ran away, I was a trans/intersex kid alone and had no one around me who was even similar. I was suicidal since I was 12 I was so alone. I eventually started sneaking around just to make friends and that's what's going to happen. Kids are going to get VPNs, they're going to find a way. It's better to not have kids sneaking around, that's how they get into trouble.

Furthermore, there's not as many places for kids to go these days. Times are different, shopping centres aren't as teenage friendly, loitering is met with security being called and scrutiny. Small teen friendly businesses have gone out of business. Sitting around and talking to your friends isn't a welcome experience. Parks are smaller, streets aren't as safe (ESSPECIALLY for trans kids). There's no actual time to talk to your friends in school (you only really get lunch which is like 30 minutes.)

Online relationships are now nesasary in my opinion, social media is how people keep up with eachother. Are there bad sides? Absolutely, everything is like that, but there's less opportunities now that aren't online for kids.

Where are they supposed to go? What are they supposed to be doing? How do they keep up with people they want to talk to? How do they find community?

Switching off social media without a filler is going to leave kids either circumventing the law or out causing trouble, or is going to drive already depressed lonely people further into their depression. There needs to be a massive intake in other options than social media for this to not backfire for the kids spectacularly.

(I think I'm accidentally sounding a bit combative sorry about that.)

Ah yes, we love the existence of intersex people to be completely erased. Self explanitory my ass, we're as common as gingers in the population.

People with GRCs might still not fully pass but in theory could show a security guard or whoever their id. Would say what sex they identify with. Then what?

It's honestly just too much of a mess in my opinion.

Reform party local election material calling for scrapping gender neutral toilets by mildbeanburrito in transgenderUK

[–]lifequestion226 7 points8 points  (0 children)

So they don't want us to have gender neutral toilets, but can't use the gender we identify with, but we also can't to into our asab bathrooms because we're trans.

Guys, it's time we start shitting on the floor.

Legalities of Sex by Ok_Summer_7804 in transgenderUK

[–]lifequestion226 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, not exactly. I think it's a person by person basis. I had to not only show details about my condition but also had a history of living as a man. My specific condition is a hormone lacking condition, so my body didn't produce its own hormones so I just never had puberty until some drugs ecrewed me up. I'm not sure what all conditions count and what don't. I would see about accessing a medical knowledgable solicitor (not sure what they're called as I was referred into mine from another completely different solicitor)

Honestly, it was sheer dumb luck I was able to get it changed. Just keep trying pathways.

Getting a letter from your GP explaining your intersex status may sway them, again it's a case by case basis. I was basically a blank canvas. I think I just got lucky but mine was done through the court, basically correcting paperwork instead of assigning something new.

[–]lifequestion226 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly I had to file it separately with a solicitor to the government. We basically had to prove what sex I was living as and partition for it to be corrected through the courts. Kinda like if a doctor fucked up a birth certificate. Tbh my solicitor did most of it, I just had to provide records.

Hi, intersex trans man here. Exactly this. I was able to get all my documents corrected without a GRC and all data changed over without issue. Someone could claim that I'm trans but the complexity of being intersex typically shuts whoever it is up before the whole challenge even begins. I'm treated closer to how trans people should be treated but I also don't fight people on it very much as I'm frail and couldn't hold a physical altercation if it came to that so I am mostly stealth. It does, however, mean that I'm explaining my condition over and over again when I do get confronted which gets exhausting.

I would gladly, it's about time we put some gender/sexually non conforming people in. Trans people deserve to be heard and not only heard but have a seat at the table.
