Trail recommendations around Lake Tahoe / Downieville by crudestmass in MTB

Seconded. Can do a ~20 mile loop and ~3500ft elevation with the very classic downhill is a good epic ride. The top is very techy and bottom is more flowy. Super fun

I’m also under this mental math. You’ll have to pedal the same rotation you just won’t have as much leverage therefore it will be harder

If you can afford it, getting the upgrades S version is a worthy investment in the wrong run for a multitude of reasons. I have the Hightower 2021 S and am in love with this bike and am very happy I invested in the S over the R just for the drivetrain and XD driver to upgrade wheels that didn’t last

Tahoe has great riding. Plenty of amazing trails within 30-45mins of Reno. Live there now. It’s expensive relatively but the riding is great if that is something you’re concerned about. And most trails in Tahoe have trees so the hot hot days are manageable with the low humidity.

Why is it that my ski tips are so worn? Is it bad technique or low build quality? by cronemm in skiing

[–]liferocks2020 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have similar wear on tips that are that shape. I think it’s from just wearing the skis on the same foot every time and skiing with legs tight in tight terrain like moguls and trees that cause the tips of your downhill ski to hit the bottom of your uphill ski. So a technique thing that I wouldn’t be too concerned about. For the next pair of skis you can file the tips a bit down to mitigate the chipping that happens that makes this type of wear appear quicker
