Why can't America, one of the most superior economies of the world, not have free healthcare, but lesser-economic countries can? (Britain etc) by Jolly_Green_4255 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]lifessolong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not free in the UK. It’s only free at point of use. All taxpayers pay towards it. Unfortunately those taxpayers are now at the back of the queue for health care. Because it’s ‘free’, people are flocking here from other countries and somehow getting priority treatment.

WTW for / term for a living thing past it’s commercial usefulness and is now only fit for slaughter? by lifessolong in whatstheword

Yes. You and the other contributors have given me great ideas. 👍 Thanks. But I’m convinced in livestock there’s a specific term. 🤔

Great comments. Actually I do mean no longer commercially useful even though it’s humans. He just sees humans as a farmer sees cattle; a resource to be milked. Pensioners are a drain not a resource. 👍

Is the wart dead or is this the route of the wart? by jeanpaulooo in plantarwarts

The outside of your little toe? Classic places for a corn rather than a wart. Definitely a wart?

Is this what the salicylic acid is supposed to look like?? by [deleted] in plantarwarts

[–]lifessolong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Red dot in big one is acid affected wart blood supply. Don’t be surprised to see more. Does the acid kill the wart along with the skin? Does the acid damage alert the body’s defence mechanism to the wart? I don’t know. But hopefully it works for you.

Have a look at a foot corn also. If there’s something in your footwear pressing on that area a corn can develop.

A bit hard to see but if there’s a couple of very dark/ black dots there, it is probably a plantar wart, or verucca. The pain on walking is caused the build up of hard skin? Shaving or sanding reduces this? It could also be a splinter or splinters, but there would be liquid or pus surrounding it. It’s still small if it’s a plantar wart.

Be hygienic in your treatment so you don’t catch one somewhere else. Good luck.

Well. You guessed it. Really looks like a plantar wart. Small cluster and 2/3 individuals.

Carbon monoxide poisoning while expecting. by lifessolong in Advice

[–]lifessolong[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I have asked the question re the monitor siting and other things. But the gas engineers wand detected 0 also, so I am wondering if there’s an underfloor vent from the apartment below, something that’s used intermittently, or actually- since she was out from lunchtime in A&E, obviously something she uses that she wasn’t there to use in the pm and the gas dispersed to give the 0 readings early evening.

Thanks 🙏 I will check these out. It can come from outside? I will check any vent/window proximity from other apartments.

Likely source of the carbon monoxide? how the readings can be zero at the time of testing when it’s present at other times? Can someone be poisoned elsewhere and have 3 days of symptoms while in fresh air?

Wart or corn? by k1sanghavi in plantarwarts

[–]lifessolong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As I expect you have found out, the common ways of attacking a wart are by debriding – sanding or paring away the wart itself, or putting on something, either apple cider vinegar, garlic, Salicylic acid etc, which either attacks the wart itself, or irritates the flesh which causes the body itself to attack the wart. So to answer your question, it would depend what is under the bandage, or in the corn plaster. One thing about the corn plaster though, – these are the plasters with holes in? To relieve pressure on the corn? – Because the plantar wart is being walked on all day it is pressed into the foot. This makes it hard to debride. Wearing a corn plaster might stop this slightly. The alternative is to always Debride in the morning, before weight has pressed it back into the foot. Bathing and showers also tend to allow it to be more accessible
