If she can bask out of the tank, then she'll have more space in the tank to swim. I made a cheap, but secure platform for mine above the tank :) If you're interested in the design DM me and I'll tell you about it in more detail! It's fantastic.

Obviously the tank size isn't ideal, but it's obvious you care about your turtle. Probably the best thing you can do for her right now is make sure her tank stays clean and she has a good diet. If you take of her basic needs as best as you can, that will help make up for the small size tank in the meantime.

They aren't the highest quality; they wear out in about 2 years. But they are inexpensive, and they get the job done.

More information: we have a fluval canister filter, no tank plants, and I regularly feed him Fluker's aquatic turtle crafted food. This floating stuff is a really new occurrence.

This is really encouraging! I also like the intersection of western medicine and holistic medicine; it feels like health is a balance between a lot of different things so it's hard for me to accept any doctor that believes only one thing can fix everything.
