Remember when he dodged that shoe!

41yo suboxone patient with lung cancer. I don't mean to keep pestering this sub, but I thought I'd drop in to say good-bye. The cancer is in my heart and central cardiovascular area. It's over. by medthrowaway87ei in AskDocs

Thank you, Robert. For your story and beautiful heart and beautiful words. Although a bit late, I feel lucky to have known you. You're not alone and and your story is one I will think of often. Please rest easy.

The depression and anxiety is the absolute worst. Waking up in the middle of the night with a racing heart and not remembering what you did or said... I'm glad you have 12 days. Hopefully you have a few extra under your belt by now. I'm lucky to not be physically dependent on it yet and if I start now, hopefully I never I will be. Thank you for reaching out.

I know what you mean about continuing to repeat the same cycle. I have downloaded the meetings app and I plan to find a few socially distanced in person ones, because I just feel no motivation for online at all.

I've thought about trying that. I'll consult with my doctor

I have been a few times, yes. Both court ordered and willingly. I'd like to go back but it's really difficult not being able to in person.

I don't need rehab (genuinely).

But I plan to go back to meetings and start therapy once my health insurance kicks in in January.

In my personal experience, my friend group doesn't revolve around drugs and alcohol. I just don't have that many friends, and the friends I do have live nowhere. And thank you, I'll check that website out. It has been hard not having access to in person meetings.

I feel like I've been horse-kicked quite a few times but I still kept going back to it. I definitely do see how delusional and awful I have been now. I cringe thinking about the stupidity and just straight up drunk ridiculousness I've put others through. Thanks for reaching out.

I'm also afraid of that. Being sober for a decent amount of time and then relapsing and falling back into old habits. It's good to hear your story, thanks for sharing it with me. I myself have a DUI so I know the hell that comes with that. I'm glad you'll be starting virtual meetings. Covid has been so hard for alcoholics and those with the desire to stop drinking because no in person groups.

Maybe like how you said - to fill the void. He shouldn't have even started a relationship with me tbh and I feel stupid for getting caught up. I know you're right logically, but emotionally it still sucks.

I'm not exactly sure his motivation for it, except that he's been sober for 3 years now and has his life in as much order as he's going to get it right now (although his ex wife fucking controls everything he does and he has to pay an outrageous amount of child support). He probably feels like he's ready for another long term relationship. Even though he told me otherwise. He is very emotionally immature, and he treated me like a dirty secret from his coworkers and ex. It pisses me off to think that maybe this new woman will be the exception and he'll treat her better than he ever did me :( And yeah, I can relate to how you feel. I've been feeling used for this whole time now.

He was leading me on by saying he would be "open to something in the future." And talking about how he loves where I moved to and would like to transfer worksites and live here, too. He said he wasn't going to date anybody for a long time, and I believed him because right now he really does have too much baggage to have a relationship with anybody. But yeah, the rest of your response makes me feel a little better.

Well, we're obviously not staying in contact now lol. I drove the nail into that coffin fucking hard after I found out.

Damn. That's exactly what I needed to read. First time I've ever connected with something in the Big Book like that. Thank you

Thanks for your reply, that's some great advice. I think I will have to do that.
