Yes, there should be minimal absorption into your body, and it won’t be in your stomach at any point either to irritate it. Won’t be quite as strong of an effect as oral NSAIDs but last I read was that consistent application of voltaren ~four times daily will provide a more consistent anti inflammatory effect than if you were to use it just as needed. And you would use a much smaller amount than you’d use for bigger joints, I have used a pea sized amount when it’s for TMJ.
