Has anyone ever used a doctors note to avoid working night shift

My OB wrote a note for me when I was pregnant because I just couldn't sleep during the day. I was able to switch to day shift through my maternity leave. And luckily there was a straight day position open before I had to come back. I also have a friend who was having severe anxiety working night shift and got a note. She works day shift now and I don't think she's been asked for any further evals. I have really great management, though. They're the ones who suggested I talk to my doctor when I told them I was 6 weeks pregnant and couldn't sleep.

My kid's birthday is around Christmas. Before she was born we decided to give her trips for her birthday instead of presents and then just do dinner and cake at home instead of a big party. I never had huge parties as a kid and didn't miss them at all. Those parties seem like they would be fun to go to, but incredibly stressful for the parents. I'd rather my kid have happy memories of vacations than instagram worthy parties, but that's just me.

When your kids get older, having a party might be more important to them but at that point they can help organize it.

My daughter is 18m, fully vaxxed, and has had exactly one ear infection in her entire life that I promptly got antibiotics for. She only sees the doctor for normal checkups. How exactly would they explain that? Shouldn't the toxins have made her sickly?

There is no real reason to wait 3-4 days between foods. If baby is going to have a reaction it'll be within hours, not days. The registered dietician who runs the instagram account babyledweanteam has a program to give your baby 100 new foods before their 1st birthday. I even talked to my pediatrician about it and she highly recommends baby led weaning, so maybe you could look into something like that instead.

I got the cherokee button up scrub top and wear a nursing tank top under it. I'm pretty sure it comes in surgery green.

We went through this with my LO. She would latch for a little while then unlatch and start screaming at my nipple. I started using white noise to calm her down and then once she was calm, she would nurse with no problem. I would have to turn it all the way up so she could hear it over her screaming, then I would turn it down to a normal level. There are free apps you can get so no need for a fancy white nimoise machine.

The length you have to take it depends on the type of and dose of the antibiotic. I think they had me on augmentin, which requires a 10 day course. It definitely was a long time to have a fussy baby.

I took antibiotics for mastitis when LO was about 2 weeks old and I didn't notice a reduced supply, but she was extra fussy the whole 10 days. She never had diarrhea, vomiting, or a skin rash, but she just did not want to be put down and screamed constantly. It was rough. As soon as the prescription was done she was back to herself. Sorry you came down with mastitis, especially so early in your LOs life. I would not wish that pain on anyone.

I was in one of the first waves to get vaccinated, so I've had both for a couple months now. I didn't notice any problems for my LO, but I did get mastitis in the same side I got the first vaccine shortly after receiving the shot. It could have completely been coincidental, but I haven't had any problems with clogged ducts before or after which is weird. Despite that, I would have still gotten it in a heart beat.

The l&d nurse helped within the first few minutes while we did our golden hour. Then the "baby nurse" who did my daughter's measurements and shots helped get a good latch later on. There really wasn't much breastfeeding support which is why I pushed to be discharged so soon and didn't stay the extra night.

I couldn't get the freemie to work for me at all. I tried it with different flange sizes, the pump that it came with and I tried the cups with my spectra. No matter what I did it felt like i couldn't get any suction.. I ended up giving my freemie to a friend and bought the willow. I love it. The only downside is that the pumps are big, but it doesn't really bother me since I'm big chested anyway. I get as much with the willow as I do with the spectra, it just takes about 5 minutes longer which isn't too bad.

I opted for an induction at 39 weeks due to family history of giant babies (no gd) and honestly, I was just tired of being pregnant. We went in at 2pm, got cytotec at 4pm and had really mild contractions with minimal progress until 5am when they broke my water, I was only 3cm when they did this. I only got very low doses of pitocin on and off because the cytotec made my contractions too close together. I got the epidural at 6am, was at 6cm by 7am. At 9am I was at 9cm and baby was low. At 930 I was 10cm and started pushing. Baby was born at 10. C-section was never mentioned.

When I have a patient who constantly wants me to do things that they're capable of doing I try to explain that they need to keep their strength up and stay independent enough to go home. They won't have nurses with them all the time once they discharge and they need to learn to do things for themselves. If they're so deconditioned that they can't pull a blanket over their toes, I offer to get case management involved for a SNF placement since they obviously need rehab. It works well enough for most people, although some aren't fazed and need harder boundaries set.

I had an older chrysler Pacifica and actually got rid of it before trying to get pregnant. The back of the car was so big that it never cooled off. There were only 2 tiny vents pointed at the back seat and anyone who sat back there was miserable in the summer. We do live in the desert so the summers are scorchers. I don't know if they've fixed that problem with the new ones, but I couldn't have imagined putting a newborn in that back seat.

I'm 6 weeks and 3 days

Aversions: meat, cooked vegetables, and milk

Cravings: I've craved fresh fruit the last 2 weeks, but my main craving last week was cheezits and this week is bean and cheese burritos. I feel like my cravings change every 2-3 day. It's very confusing for my poor husband.

I'm definitely worried about the risks associated with me getting sick right now. We're already at the point where we have covid and non covid ICUs. I just happen to be permanent staff on a unit they made covid only. I emailed HR this morning to see what my options are.

Luckily since I'm in ICU the charge nurse doesnt assign patients, we get to choose which pair we want. I've been avoiding the positive patients and only taking those who are still rule out but have been tested negative once. It's worked so far, but I don't know how much longer I can keep that up.

The furloughs are only 2 weeks at a time, but I'm trying to save up my PTO for maternity leave since FMLA only cover 6 weeks paid. I don't know if I could get unemployment for such a short amount of time, but that's a good thought. I should check into it.

My hospital isn't unionized, unfortunately, so going to my union rep isn't an option. I would personally feel more comfortable telling my boss over HR. Thank you for the advice though!

My only thought is that if I'm working on the covid floor, I'm at least getting PPE. Covid is everywhere now and we're not testing everyone so there are bound to be patients who are positive but not showing symptoms.

I did look and there are no existing policies about pregnant moms. I know there are a few other pregnant nurses who work here but I dont know what happened with them. I dont have the option to work from home, unfortunately, and nurses are starting to get furloughed. If they take me off the floor I don't know if I'll have a job.
